HM Treasury and the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation have been at the front and centre of an unprecedented financial sanctions response. Russia’s unprovoked and unwarranted attack on a sovereign nation brought war back to Europe.

Individual National Health Service employers deliver their own recruitment policies to meet their local need. The independent Migration Advisory Committee advises the Government on suggested changes to the Shortage Occupation List.
There were no additions to the Shortage Occupation List in 2010, 2012 or 2014.
In 2011, 33 roles were added to the list and 29 roles were removed.
In 2013, 28 roles were added to the list and 27 roles were removed.
The number of roles on the list at any one time is not an accurate measure of the extent of skills shortages in the UK economy, as some roles may be more specialised or more narrowly defined. The Migration Advisory Committee
estimates that roles on the current list employ around 180,000 people in total (resident workers as well as migrants) compared to around 500,000 people in roles on the list in 2010.

Mechanical design engineers (stress)

DWP is working with Monster Worldwide Limited, the Universal Jobmatch supplier, on a timetable for prioritising and implementing improvements to the available Universal Jobmatch Ml, including breakdowns by parliamentary constituency, subject to funding, and so it has no current plans to publish statistics on vacancies by constituency.
Any snapshot of unfilled vacancies at a point in time will miss the regular turnover of new vacancies that are notified as existing opportunities are filled. It will also miss jobs coming up through other recruitment channels or filled by direct approaches to employers or word of mouth.

National Statistics on vacancies at UK-level continue to be reported each month via the ONS Vacancy Survey. A user consultation by DWP on the changes to the Jobcentre Plus vacancy series was conducted last year and has been published on the DWP statistics web pages. Statistical information for some geographies below national level is already available via the Universal Jobmatch Ml tool and some improvements, including the addition of breakdowns by parliamentary constituency, have been suggested. DWP is currently agreeing with Monster Worldwide Ltd, the Universal Jobmatch supplier, a timetable for prioritising and implementing these improvements, subject to funding. Further details will be released as soon as they are available.
