That this House condemns the fact, despite assurances previously given by the former Conservative Prime Minister, the Right honourable Member for Huntingdon, that he would unreservedly condemn Dame Shirley Porter if she were found guilty in a court of law, no condemnation or criticism has yet been made by any Conservative Member of this House or of Westminster City Council consequent upon the judgement of the High Court of 19th December 1997, that Dame Shirley Porter and Councillor David Weeks (formerly Lead and Deputy Leader of Westminster City Council) were guilty of wilful misconduct resulting in a loss to Westminster City Council of ??27,023,376 as a consequence of their illegal homes for votes gerrymandering policy, carried out on behalf of the Conservative Party; also condemns the failure of Westminster City Council to take any steps whatsoever to recover ??27 million now owed to the people of Westminster; notes that Dame Shirley Porter was made a Dame of the British Empire in recognition of her services to local government, but, in view of the court's judgement, considers that she is no longer a fit person to hold this honour; and calls upon the Government to make representation to Her Majesty the Queen to remove from Dame Shirley Porter her DBE.
