That this House commemorates with pride the 85th anniversary of the Jarrow Crusade; commends the 200 proud marchers who set off for London on 5 October 1936 to deliver their petition to Parliament; understands that the marchers wanted Parliament to view them as orderly and respectful people who deserved the right to work to support their families; recognises that the Crusade represents a great source of pride and togetherness which is still present in the town today; acknowledges that the proud folk of Jarrow and their local hon. That this House congratulates Len McCluskey, General Secretary of Unite the Union, Lutfur Rahman, Mayor of Tower Hamlets and Barclays Bank for their unique partnership in launching a new Unite Community Centre, the first of its type, in Cable Street, Tower Hamlets, East London; notes that the centre will help people in one of the most deprived areas of the UK with employment and welfare issues; further notes that this community centre will be the first of a number of such centres that will be rolled out by Unite over the next period; acknowledges the important role played by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in helping to deliver this initiative; commends Barclays Bank for its support for the centre; and further notes that the centre will offer various educational courses, including IT skills as well as offering assistance to find employment, from creating a CV to interview preparation and with centre staff also advising on the growing number of welfare and benefit issues in London's second most deprived borough.

That this House recognises that youth unemployment in Bradford is now a national crisis and that the number of people out of work has increased by 542 per cent since 2008 and the long-term unemployed by 771 per cent since 2011; calls on the Government to take drastic measures to deal with this including re-introducing educational maintenance allowance and pressurising Britain's largest companies who are now sitting on cash reserves of 70 billion to spend at least 10 per cent of this on taking on young people which would create 350,000 jobs; insists that the benefit of the reduction in corporation tax is invested in new jobs; and demands that the Government, rather than continue its austerity programme, invests in national and regional infrastructure and community projects which will have a direct impact on getting young people back to work.
