That this House believes that the bereaved relatives and friends of people killed on the roads should have accurate, clear and concise information outlining procedures automatically distributed to them, as it currently is for those bereaved through homicides via police forces; and, to this end, welcomes the publication by Trauma Advisory Services, a division of the road safety group Brake, of Procedures Following a Death on the Road in England and Wales which includes important information on issues such as organ donation, inquests, police investigations and legal and civil prosecutions.

That this House acknowledges the fact that the chance of death of someone on the roads is 1 in 125 and the chance of winning ??10 on the National Lottery is 1 in 53, and that 90 per cent. of crashes on the roads are caused by human error and, therefore, that many of the 3,500 deaths that occur on our roads annually could be prevented; and, to this end calls on the Government to be tough on road crime and to start implementing the widely endorsed recommendation of the road safety group, Brake, and many support organisations, that the Home Office make road policing a core policy duty.
