My Lords, I hope I can contribute to this debate by drawing on my farming interests and my experience. Of course, some of the latter is now history: I remember personally hot water treating daffodil bulbs in mercurial dips and, in my part of the world, there was widespread use...

I thank the noble Baroness very much indeed for her support. The drugalyser is rather a focused piece of kit at the moment and deals with drugs that are commonly available and well recognised as impairing people’s ability to drive properly. I have no doubt that we will have an...

My Lords, this has been a very productive debate in the sense that I have an enormous amount of paper in front of me. I hope that noble Lords will be patient, because if I can give answers, I will certainly try to do so.

Certainly, and I hope that we will be able to arrange that in the new year. I think that that is realistic; we have few days left this year; but I am happy to do that. We might also discuss the Weatherall report and the primates strategy. We agree that...

I can answer it today, because I have the answer here, I hope. We are not transposing Annexe 4 as it stands. We are amending our current ASPA Schedule 1 to retain more humane methods. There is no question of clubbing kittens or chopping the heads of sparrows. I can...

If I understand the noble Lord correctly, he indeed asked a question about actual numbers. I do not have them to hand but I am sure that they are available, and if we do not have them we will see if the Department of Health does. We will do our...

That is certainly something that we are considering. One of the advantages of being able to assess severity as well as numbers is that there are new opportunities for presenting the figures as well as in overall number terms. I do not think that that was quite the question that...

To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether police officers are required to undergo eyesight tests before being issued with taser guns.[HL2840]

To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many horse passport issuers are required to carry out DNA testing prior to the issuing of a horse passport. [HL1473]
To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many horse passport issuers are required to carry out DNA testing prior to the issuing of a horse passport. [HL1473]
Horse passport issuing organisations (PIOs) must have a system in place to verify the pedigree of registered equidae. There is no obligation to carry out DNA testing in order to meet this requirement, but DNA testing is a commonly used approach.
To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether DNA testing by horse passport issuers is required by legislation, guidance or on an individual basis. [HL1474]
To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether DNA testing by horse passport issuers is required by legislation, guidance or on an individual basis. [HL1474]
DNA testing of horses in order to establish pedigree is not required by legislation or guidance. DNA testing is widely used by recognised horse passport issuing organisations in order to meet the requirement for them to have in place a system to verify the pedigree of registered equidae.

My own pathway to work today has been rather lengthy, but I seize it with alacrity. This is the only point at which we will be debating Clause 12, which extends the mobility component to blind people. I notice in the Explanatory Note that it does not change the arrangements...
