As my right hon. Friend the Deputy Prime Minister announced in the House of Commons on 5 July 2010, Official Report, column 23-25. The Government have listened carefully to what has been said on both sides of the House about its proposals for fixed-term Parliaments, and has decided that a majority of two-thirds will be needed to pass a dissolution motion, as opposed to the 55% first suggested.
