The Government’s intention is to build on the existing certification structures, including those that come under the competent person schemes and Trustmark. The Department of Energy and Climate Change has commissioned the British Standards Institution (BSI) to develop a Green Deal installer standard (PAS) with industry by the end of this year. This will bring together the existing standards/schemes and develop new ones where necessary. We will then use the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) to provide independent accreditation of certification bodies to ensure that they are meeting this standard. Any competent person schemes or those endorsed by Trustmark can come forward to be accredited if they are able to meet the PAS requirements.
