There are no plans to make further grants of city status in the near future. It is for Her Majesty the Queen to decide when a grant of city status should be made. Competitions are usually held to mark important royal anniversaries which are national in nature, not personal. The Queen's 80th birthday is a personal anniversary, being marked by other events.
