Dr. Cable: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people sought relocation in 1997 under the Metropolitan
Police's witness protection scheme; and how many were successfully rehoused, by borough. [25261]
Mr. Michael: The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis informs me that 158 people sought relocation under the Metropolitan
Police's witness protection scheme. He tells me that due to the sensitivities of those seeking assistance it is not the policy of
the Metropolitan Police to publish more detailed information. This is an operational matter for the Commissioner.
