Meetings of the Taskforce are attended by Ministers and senior officials from multiple Government departments and have to date taken place in secure Government premises within the Whitehall estate.
There are currently no plans for the Taskforce to meet in Northern Ireland. However, meetings of the Taskforce are complemented by official led engagement with Devolved Governments including Northern Ireland.

Meetings of the Taskforce are attended by Ministers and senior officials from multiple government departments, and have to date, all taken place in secure government premises within the Whitehall estate. These meetings, that I chair in my role as Security Minister, are complemented by official led meetings with Devolved Governments including Northern Ireland.

Defending Democracy must be a whole of UK effort, and the Government works closely with colleagues from the nations and regions on a range of issues relevant to the Defending Democracy Taskforce. This includes long term work to understand threats to our democracy and to share lessons and best practice emerging from the work of the Taskforce.
In addition, the Government works closely with partners in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to safeguard democratic processes and institutions. This has included the provision of a new cyber security offer to elected representatives in the devolved legislatures as well as dedicated police points of contact for elected officials to liaise with on security matters across all territorial forces in the UK.

The Government is committed to rolling out a Young Futures programme which will bring together local services to improve the delivery of support for young people at risk of being drawn into crime .
The HO has already set up a YF delivery unit to make progress on the design of local prevention partnerships and will be working cross government on the design and delivery of Young Futures Hubs. More information will be provided in due course.

The Defending Democracy Taskforce is an enduring government function which seeks to protect the democratic integrity of the UK by reducing the threat of foreign interference.
The Taskforce is engaging across government and with Parliament, the UK’s intelligence community, the devolved governments, local authorities, the private sector, and civil society on the full range of threats facing our democratic institutions.
Over the last 12 months, the Taskforce has met eleven times.
