The hon. Gentleman makes a really important point. I am happy to give that undertaking. We want to see the opportunities around SMRs throughout the United Kingdom. I am happy to discuss that with him.

Ministers regularly engage with elected mayors on matters relating to local growth and regeneration and remain committed to collaborating with the Devolved Governments on shared challenges.

Through our devolution agenda, we are empowering local leaders with greater powers and funding flexibilities to support thriving town centres and high streets.

We will continue to work collaboratively with local and regional leaders to address the challenges facing high streets and support their long-term success.

Later this year we will bring forward a new cross-government High Streets Strategy backed by £301m, to tackle the challenges facing retail, leisure, and hospitality businesses and reinvigorate our communities. We will work with businesses and representative bodies to pull this Strategy together.

The Falls and Fragility Fracture Audit Programme, which includes a dedicated Fracture Liaison Service database, is a clinical audit of fracture prevention care, delivered by the Royal College of Physicians.

The Fracture Liaison Service database collects, measures, and reports on the care provided by Fracture Liaison Services in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It captures data that NHS datasets are not designed to record, providing key insight across these nations.

Fracture Liaison Services in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland report into the database. The Royal College of Physicians publishes an annual report on Fracture Liaison Services in England and Wales.

The National Centre for Violence Against Women and Girls and Public Protection (NCVPP) plays an important role in supporting police forces to improve their response to violence against women and girls (VAWG). The Centre works closely with all 43 forces across England and Wales to highlight examples of effective practice and to help to promote consistent, high‑quality standards in policing, including by hosting national learning and practice‑sharing events.

We recognise that there is value in ensuring that learning and innovative best practice can be shared across the UK. The NCVPP has already begun initial engagement with respective devolved partners, including the Police Service of Northern Ireland, to understand approaches to VAWG and public protection, including police training. We will continue to encourage the NCVPP to consider how it engages with partners such as Police Scotland and the Police Service of Northern Ireland as its work develops, identifying where sharing emerging insights and good practice would be appropriate, while remaining mindful of the different operating environments and responsibilities across jurisdictions.

The Medical Training (Prioritisation) Bill was introduced to Parliament on 13 January 2026. The bill delivers the Government’s commitment in the 10-Year Health Plan for England, published in July 2025, to prioritise United Kingdom medical graduates for foundation training, and to prioritise UK medical graduates and other doctors who have worked in the National Health Service for a significant period for specialty training.

The bill extends and applies across the UK. Health workforce planning and access to medical training are devolved matters. However, the process of recruitment and the allocation of foundation and specialty training places is undertaken on a UK-wide basis, and we are committed to keeping that consistency.

Department ministers have worked closely with their counterparts on the draft bill and alongside this, officials have been working closely and constructively with colleagues across all devolved administrations as we shape these proposals, and will continue to do so.

Disease control policy is a devolved matter and it is for the Devolved Governments to assess the disease risks and impacts in relation to their national herds, alongside the impacts of controls, and respond accordingly. Defra works closely with the Devolved Governments with the aim of providing, where possible, a consistent and coordinated response across the UK. A key forum for this is the Animal Disease Policy Group (ADPG), which is a UK wide policy decision making group. Defra and Devolved Governments also engage closely with industry to inform policy development and implementation.

Yes. This government is committed to transitioning towards a circular economy where resources are kept in use for longer and waste is designed out. This systemic change, with investment in green jobs and vital infrastructure, builds a path to economic growth, progress towards Net Zero, restoration of nature, and a more resilient economy.

The Government convened a Circular Economy Taskforce of experts to help map that transition; in the new year we will publish a Circular Economy Growth Plan that sets out how government will deliver a more circular and more prosperous economy.

The Government will maintain this collaborative approach as the Circular Economy Growth Plan is finalised, with further joint working and mutual learning scheduled to ensure coherence across the United Kingdom.

I can absolutely give the hon. Gentleman that commitment. I work very well with my counterparts across Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, regardless of party affiliations. I think he makes a very sensible suggestion.

Operational matters – including requests for and provision of Mutual Aid in response to public disorder – are primarily a matter for police forces who are operationally independent of government.

The UK has a comprehensive surveillance programme in place to monitor the level of BSE over time and check on the continued effectiveness of our BSE controls. It was the effectiveness of these controls that recently identified a case in Scotland. Defra officials have engaged closely with Scottish counterparts on this matter, as they do regularly on animal disease issues more broadly with officials from all UK administrations under the Animal Health and Welfare Framework.

I am very happy to give that assurance. I was delighted to meet Minister Swann yesterday to discuss his plans for Northern Ireland healthcare, including access to primary care.

The Monitoring and Evaluation strategy, available on gov.uk, sets out how we will monitor and evaluate the impact of the UK Freeports programme. We will publish a report of our findings to date early next year in the UK Freeports annual report.

The Department has learnt valuable lessons from the delivery of the Enterprise Zones program that have informed the development of more recent zonal policies such as Freeports and Investment Zones. The government is committed to robust monitoring and evaluation of Freeports and Investment Zones to ensure their success and will report on their impact annually.

Mental Health is one of the six groups of conditions that are within the scope of the forthcoming Major Conditions Strategy (MCS).

We have heard from a wide range of stakeholders, citizens and the National Health Service and their views are informing the development of the Strategy. This includes engagement at official level with the devolved governments which will continue throughout the process. There are no plans to hold separate discussions specifically on sharing of information on mental health in the context of the MCS.

The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland regularly speaks with a range of stakeholders in relation to the return of devolved government and will continue to do so over the coming weeks and months.

Northern Ireland deserves locally elected and accountable devolved Government. I share the frustration of the people of Northern Ireland that the institutions are not up and running, and firmly believe that working devolved government is the surest way of strengthening the Union.

I also believe that successful local governance in Northern Ireland has always depended on sufficient consensus. The Windsor Framework delivers the foundations for stability and it is now for the parties to move forward together.

In August 2021, we provided £1,375,000 to 11 local authorities in Northern Ireland, to support the development of high-quality bids for future rounds of the Levelling Up Fund. Officials have already begun to work with a range of stakeholders to prepare them for future funding opportunities.

In addition, following the launch of round two of the Fund in spring 2022, we will implement a support offer to further help applicants to develop high quality bids that will have lasting impacts for communities across GB and NI.

Future rounds of the Levelling Up Fund will continue to prioritise a fair deal for all nations of the UK, meeting the commitment we set out to at least £800 million for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland over the lifetime of the Fund.

The first round of the Levelling Up Fund will invest £1.7 billion in 105 local infrastructure projects across the UK

The first round allocations for each nation are as follows: Scotland - 10.1%; Wales - 7.2%; Northern Ireland - 2.9%.

The Levelling Up Fund prospectus stated that at least 9% of total UK allocations were to be set aside for Scotland; 5% for Wales; and 3% for Northern Ireland.

There was significant interest in the first round of the Fund. Whilst some bids have not been successful, there will be further funding opportunities through a second round of the Levelling Up Fund which will open in spring 2022. More information on this will be available in due course.

The Department has worked closely with the devolved administrations throughout the COVID-19 outbreak, mutually and beneficially exchanging information and policy developments across the full range of issues and challenges facing education systems in the UK. For example, in addition to education recovery, there has also been a UK-wide discussion on the reopening of schools and colleges and arrangements for awarding qualifications in 2021.

One example where the Department is working with the devolved administration to enhance educational opportunities is on the Turing scheme, the UK-wide replacement for Erasmus+, which will support 35,000 students from schools, further education and higher education across the UK to do study and work placements abroad. It aims to improve social mobility, targeting students from disadvantaged backgrounds, making life-changing opportunities accessible to everyone across the country.

The Department will continue to engage with the devolved administrations on the response to the COVID-19 outbreak and on how to support education recovery. This engagement will include sharing information and evidence on education recovery initiatives, including the National Tutoring Programme.

The release of financial contributions towards City and Growth deals can only be made with the sign-off of Full Business Cases. The timescale to achieve this is primarily dependent on the pace and resourcing of the relevant Councils and Deal partners. For devolved projects, a restored Executive will have to consider the question of match-funding and agreement of individual projects.
