The number of Full Time Equivalent Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) staff employed within the Military Flying Training Systems teams as at 31 March in each complete Financial Year since 2019 is detailed in the table below. The figures include civilian and military employees and workforce substitutes.

The number of Full Time Equivalent DE&S staff employed within the Military Flying Training Systems teams as of 10 March 2025 is 130. This figure represents data taken from a resource planning dashboard used temporarily whilst the resource management software is reconfigured to reflect DE&S’ new Operating Model, and as such is not directly comparable with the figures in the table.

As part of the Cabinet Office-led UK-EU reset, teams in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office are working closely with teams across the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to work collaboratively to build our defence relationship with the EU including consultations on respective defence initiatives and defence industry matters, including advancing work towards a Security and Defence Partnership.
There are currently no staff solely dedicated to reviewing engagement with the EU through PESCO. However, teams in MOD are working to assess PESCO as part of their broader remits to consider international cooperation and UK interests, including through work to develop a UK-EU Security Partnership.

The Department is aware of nine senior personnel having applied for such clearance to join Capita across the last ten years.

The Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for the LE TacCIS programme is currently Major General Jonathan Cole. He combines his duties as SRO on LE TacCIS with being the Army’s Chief information officer.

There are currently 111 Ministry of Defence (MOD) civilian, military and contractor staff in Defence Equipment & Support directly employed on the AJAX project. This number may vary, dependent on project requirements. The project is supported by other indirect staff, such as corporate services, and a small number of senior staff who provide oversight and contribute to the project as required, as part of wider portfolios of work.

MOD civilian salary bands are representative of the current Ajax project population. Contractor salaries are a matter for the provider.
