To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what Welsh language facilities will be provided for inmates and staff in the planned prison in Wrexham.

and Wales. The scheme applies equally to those services delivered directly by NOMS and those which are delivered by other providers on NOMS behalf.

We are considering a full range of options relating to the operation of the new prison but no decisions have been made on whether the establishment will be operated by the public or private sector. We will identify a provider(s) for the prison who is able to deliver the best value for the public as well as providing a safe, secure and decent environment.
Final decisions on the staffing profile are dependent on the operator but we estimate that between 800 and 1,100 jobs will be created directly at the prison.
It is estimated that approximately one hundred jobs will come from those staff working in the new prison and visitors to the prison spending on local goods and services.
In addition, (and based on previous experience), the new prison will provide significant job opportunities during the construction phase, many of which will be filled by local small to medium enterprises.
