The first 24 free schools, which opened in September 2011, have now been judged against Ofsted's inspection framework. Of those, 18 were assessed as good or outstanding. One school was judged to be inadequate and we expect urgent action to be taken to bring about rapid improvement. The school is being closely monitored by Ofsted and the Department.
