My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence has spoken to NATO counterparts on various occasions about a range of topics, most recently at the NATO Defence Ministerial meeting on 24-25 October. The UK has repeatedly raised concerns at Ministerial and official level about the Turkish purchase of S-400 missiles.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence has raised our concern about Turkey's acquisition of the Russian S-400 missile system with both our Turkish and wider NATO counterparts. Turkey is a valued NATO Ally, on the front line of some of the UK and the Alliance's most difficult security challenges. Defence equipment procurement decisions are for individual nations, but all NATO allies have committed to reducing their dependence on Russian-sourced military equipment.

We have raised our concerns with the NATO Secretary General and discussed this issue with a number of Allies. The Secretary General has made clear that while defence equipment procurement decisions are for nations, it is very important that our respective systems are interoperable. We share this view.

The INF Treaty is a bilateral Treaty between the US and Russia, so it would be for those States in the first instance to determine any breaches. Iskander is usually regarded as a short-range rather than an intermediate-range missile. The INF Treaty plays a vital role in maintaining Euro-Atlantic security, and we urge Russia to ensure full and verifiable compliance.
We and our NATO Allies monitor closely the deployment of Russian military assets to Kaliningrad. NATO has made clear that Russia should avoid all actions that could destabilise security in its neighbourhood.

The Strategic Defence and Security Review 2015 (SDSR 2015) ensured that investment in capability remained in balance with financial requirements to deliver future Defence commitments. For the Royal Navy (RN), SDSR 15 set out plans for investment in the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers, 19 frigates and destroyers, and further Offshore Patrol Vessels, new tankers and support ships by 2030.
As part of its planning process the RN continues to work alongside other areas of the Ministry of Defence to ensure that all the support and capability programmes are in place to enable it to meet its global operational tasking.
