Ms Christine Russell: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions when he will announce his
decision on the Local Government Commission's recommendations on the future of local government in the Metropolitan Borough of
Sefton; and if he will make a statement. [54873]
Ms Armstrong: I am today announcing that we have decided to accept the Local Government Commission's recommendation for no change in
the structure of local government in Sefton. I believe this will be the most satisfactory way forward for the whole of Sefton in
terms of effective and convenient local government. We have also decided to accept the Commission's recommendations for minor
changes to electoral arrangements in the borough.
