Dr. Julian Lewis: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the awarding of
an honorary knighthood to the American former head of IBM. [220565]
Mr. Straw: Mr. Louis Gerstner, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IBM, and an American citizen, was made an honorary Knight
Commander of the Order of the British Empire in September 2001. He received the award in recognition of his services and commitment
to e-commerce and education in the United Kingdom.
