Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency: Opticians
My Lords, given the anxieties of those about to take the field test, because it might involve them losing their driving licence, is it not unacceptable that they should be required to take these tests in public view—in the noisy, brightly lit public rooms of opticians—instead of in the privacy of the back room of the optometrist? Moreover, is it not unacceptable that they should be required to put on their glasses—glasses which may well be bifocals—and then distort the actual measure of the test when the test is one of peripherality and not of acuity?
