To support the young unemployed people in Poole the personal advisers in the Jobcentre deliver the following:

Group information sessions over a four-week period covering Attitudes and Behaviour, CV writing, Interview Techniques and the final part is a mock interview with two members of our staff. Participants are asked to provide feedback at the end of the four sessions and to date this has been extremely positive, especially the mock interview. These sessions have developed as a result of consultation with our staff and customers.

We run half day CV clinics for claimants in our Internet Access Device (IAD) suite. These sessions cover how to write a quality CV and utilise internet sites which will help with this. They provide the participant the opportunity to ask questions and collate the information they need to construct their own CV to a recognised standard.

We also run half day group sessions where we promote the benefits of Work Experience. When possible we endeavour to involve one of our work experience employers in co-delivering these sessions. This enables participants to see how beneficial a work experience placement can be. Participation in work experience will provide claimants with a reference, recent work experience to record on their CV and experience of working as part of a team.

Poole Jobcentre is a Digital Jobcentre and provides the use of web access devices and internet access devices. Advisers are able to use these devices to support claimants to set up email accounts, construct a CV, apply on line for vacancies and make best use of Universal Jobmatch, the Government's online recruitment portal.

We arrange the mock interviews and ask them to come in dressed as though they were attending an actual interview. They are interviewed using competency based questions, as this is typical of current recruitment practice. Throughout the interview we provide constructive feedback on how they might consider alternative answers which would better promote them to a prospective employer.

Our Employer Team work closely with the 18 to 24-year-old claimant group and focus employer activity on this particular area.

Specifically we have:

Set up an ongoing Sector Based Work Academy (SBWA) which focuses on Wage Incentive eligible customers (young people)

Delivering additional SBWAs in:

Security

Hospitality

Telecoms

Customer Services

Construction/Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)

Retail.

We are working with local authorities (LA) and their economic development teams to ensure future builds provide work opportunities for young people including Apprenticeships and Work Experience. This includes

the North Poole site, Pilkington Tile site, Bourne Estate Job Hub, Hamworthy site and Twin Sails Bridge.

We bring employers into our Jobcentres through our JobZone area, where employers and agencies have delivered interviews and training sessions directly to young people on job search techniques.

Impact of these services on Poole youth unemployment figures:

13 April: 710; 13 October: 515—reduction of 37.8%

13 September: 550; 13 October: 515—(month on month) reduction of 6.79%

12 October: 585; 13 October: 515—(year on year) reduction of 13.5%.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has not undertaken an assessment of the economic benefit to the local community of the Royal Marines Poole.

The MOD does not routinely hold or assess such information unless a decision is being considered to relocate, close or expand the base. However, it is fair to say the local community will benefit economically from having a Defence establishment within it.

The available information required to answer this question is currently being collated. I will write to the hon. Member as soon as it is available. A copy will be placed in the House Library.

Those individuals who reach state pension age on or after 6 April 2016 may receive a single-tier pension, provided they satisfy the minimum qualifying period (which will be set at no higher than 10 years). This means women born on or after the 6 April 1953 may receive a single-tier pension. Their exact amount of state pension will be determined by their national insurance record.

The Department estimates, using the 2011 census, that there are approximately 35,000 women living in Poole who are born after this date.

We are not are able to determine at a constituency level how many of these individuals would receive a higher state pension than if the current system had remained in place.

At a national level we estimate around 650,000 women who reach state pension age in the first 10 years after the single-tier pension is introduced will receive an average of £8 per week more in state pension due to the single-tier valuation.

As part of their Strategic Framework For Tourism in England 2010-2020, VisitEngland developed, in partnership with the industry, an action plan for seaside resorts which seeks to maximise the potential of

seaside resorts in England and contribute to 5% growth, year on year, in the English tourism market by 2020. Seaside resorts, including Poole, regularly feature in VisitEngland imagery in thematic campaigns, funded through the Government's Regional Growth Fund. New thematic promotions in 2014 will focus on activities such as beach sports, water sports and exploration of the coast—all of which will help increase visitor expenditure in seaside resorts including Poole.

As Director General for the Office for National Statistics (ONS), I have been asked to reply to your Parliamentary Question asking the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what change there has been in the number of people in employment in Poole constituency from 2010 to November 2013. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) compiles employment statistics for local areas from the Annual Population Survey (APS) following International Labour Organisation (ILO) definitions.

The table shows the number and net change of people employed in Poole Parliamentary Constituency. These estimates are compiled from APS interviews held during the period July 2012 to June 2013, the latest period available, and theM2 month periods ending in June in each year since 2010.

As with any sample survey, estimates from the APS are subject to a margin of uncertainty. A guide to the quality of the estimates is given in the table.

We are committed to achieving an economically viable and sustainable long-term future for the fishing industry. We will seek to secure the best deal possible at the December Fisheries Council, which will provide the industry with fishing opportunities that are based on sound scientific advice. We are also working with industry to help them prepare for the landings obligation which will come into force in 2015 for pelagic species and 2016 for all other quota species. The fishermen of Poole will receive the same assistance as those operating in other regions.

Funding under the European Fisheries Fund is available to assist fishermen with a range of projects such as improving infrastructure and the industry in Poole is able to apply for this.

My right hon. Friend receives many representations about proposals to open new free schools. There have, to date, been no applications to open a free school in the Poole constituency and no representations.

The requested information for GCSE and A level has been provided in the following table. AS level figures can be provided only at disproportionate cost.

The English Baccalaureate is reversing years of decline in language learning at secondary school with the proportion of pupils sitting a language GCSE in England this summer reaching a seven year high.

The latest period for which initial teacher training (ITT) allocation data is available is for the 2013/14 academic year and can be found in the ITT allocations 2013/14 released in November 2012. One lead school in Poole constituency has received School Direct places for 2013/14, Poole high school. Poole high school is a lead school for School Direct and their accredited provider is Wessex Schools Training Partnership School Centred Initial Teacher Training which is based at the school.

The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) does not hold data on schools within a partnership. This means that although only one lead school in the Poole constituency has received an allocation for 2013/14 other schools in the Poole constituency may be involved in School Direct through partnerships with lead schools in other constituencies.

Start-up businesses are vital to the economy and this Government is supporting them in many ways.

In Poole, 15 start-up loans have been drawn with a value of £104,600; and since May 2010, 22 enterprise finance guarantee scheme loans have been drawn with a value of £1.6 million.

Start-up loans are now available to anyone over the age of 18 starting a business (or in the early stages of doing so) but lacking access to the necessary finance or support to realise their ambitions. Further information can be found at:

In addition to online support, the Business Link helpline is available to provide a quick response on queries about starting a business, or a personalised and in-depth advice service for more complex needs.

No businesses in Poole have received grants from the fourth Regional Growth Fund bidding round.

The Ministry of Defence has no plans to close the Royal Marine Base in Poole.

The UK Climate Projections (UKCP09) provide the current assessment of long-term sea level rise. Although the recent measured rise in sea level has been about 1.5 mm each year we estimate that by the end of this century it will be rising by 10 mm each year. By 2060 we expect sea levels to be at least 200 mm higher and probably over 400 mm higher, than they were in 1990. Sea levels could be over 700 mm higher by 2100.

Shoreline Management Plans (SMP) provide a large-scale assessment of the physical risks associated with coastal processes and present a long term policy framework to reduce these risks. The SMP covering Poole Bay concluded that most of the developed coastline should continue to be defended, although some defences may need to be moved or altered. It also recognised the uncertainty about how some areas, in particular around Poole Harbour mouth, will evolve.
