The Highways Agency's maintenance contracts are structured so that Service Providers are paid a single sum for a wide range of general maintenance duties. Payment for these activities is made as per the contract and, by its very nature, is not disaggregated to particular routes. However, I am currently discussing Highways Agency contracts with my officials, and I hope such granularity may be simpler to glean in future.

As part of the Government’s £15 billion investment in the strategic road network announced on the 1st December, the Department for Transport’s Road Investment Strategy includes committed funding for enhancements to the M6. This includes four schemes already committed to upgrade the most heavily congested parts of the M6 to Smart Motorway, which will add an extra lane through the use of the hard shoulder as part of the "smart spine", a 145 mile corridor linking London and Manchester and improvements to three junctions to increase capacity and provide better access to local employment and development sites.
May we have an urgent statement on safety between junctions 1 and 4 of the M6? Many serious accidents take place on that part of the motorway, and its closure on numerous occasions has caused gridlock in my constituency as people have taken to A and B roads to get...

In last year’s Spending Round I provided the Highways Agency with a long term funding settlement that committed to treble the level of investment in major enhancements to our strategic road network by 2020-21. This marks the start of the biggest programme of investment in our roads since the 1970’s.
As part of that package I committed to fund the M54 to M6/M6 Toll Link Road subject to finalising options and agreement being reached on developer contributions. The Highways Agency are progressing this work and will update you on its progress in due course.
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport with reference to Lancaster City Council's Local Plan for Lancaster District 2011-2031: Strategic Options for Land Allocations, what assessment his Department has made of whether it would be necessary to re-allocate junction 33 of the M6 to serve the university and 5,000...

The Highways Agency has not carried out any assessments of the possible impact on M6 junction 33 of the of the Lancaster City Council’s Local Plan for Lancaster District 2011-31: Strategic Options for Land Allocations, Option 1.
The local plan is still in the consultation period which ends on 31 July 2014. It is the council’s responsibility to assess the transport implications of their options and the agency will work with them as part of this process.

It also confirmed that Government would provide funding to build a number of Highways Agency major road projects, including the M54 to M6 Toll Link Road scheme subject to the finalisation of options and agreement being reached on developer contributions.
