The Department’s contract with Deloitte included a general clause to provide support to civil servants in responding to Written Questions. Deloitte consultants have not been directly responsible for drafting replies.
We take parliamentary scrutiny incredibly seriously and it is fundamentally important that hon. Members are provided with accurate and timely information to enable them to hold the Government to account. We have been working rapidly to provide all Members with accurate answers despite an unprecedented volume of Written Questions during the pandemic.

The Department’s contract included a general clause for Deloitte to provide support in responding to Written Questions, Freedom of Information requests and media queries. They have not been directly responsible for drafting replies.

These include increasing our capacity to deliver the programme, supporting the national testing, meeting our end to end supply needs and determining our logistics.
Overall performance is monitored via a robust fortnightly cycle of contract management and performance reporting against agreed milestones. This includes review and approvals for each workstream, with additional governance aligned to Government standards and best practice.

All residential adult social care settings, including those in Brighton and Hove, have access to routine COVID-19 testing through the National Testing Programme and all care homes and high-risk extra care and supported living settings have been provided with access to weekly polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing and twice weekly lateral flow device (LFD) testing for staff and weekly PCR testing for residents. As of 1 February, these settings are able to replenish their stock by calling 119 or at the following link:

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has thoroughly reviewed its processes and systems, with advice from a range of external experts, to understand what could be done to reduce the backlogs that had built up during the initial lockdown in 2020, not specifically on home working. Any reports which contain information relating to the DVLA’s IT systems are not routinely placed in the public domain due to security requirements.

Deloitte’s role has focused on work to help set up testing facilities, home and satellite delivery channels and designing the digital platform that enables people to book a test and register their kit. Deloitte does not have a role in the generation of results, handling of results data or the digital flow of results data. This is carried out by NHS.
Results are generated in our laboratories and are then passed to the National Pathology Exchange, NHS Digital and the NHS Business Service Authority where results are communicated back to individuals. Results are also sent to Public Health England who then communicate positive case information to Directors of Public Health.
