The UK supports Iranians standing up for their fundamental freedoms by ensuring the regime is held to account for its violent repression of protests. Since October 2022, the UK has designated more than 70 Iranian officials and entities involved in serious human rights violations. This includes Iran's prosecutor general, deputy prosecutor general, and others responsible for egregious prison sentences and use of the death penalty. We work closely with our international partners to ensure accountability on the world stage, including through the establishment of a UN Fact Finding Mission. We continue to raise Iran's dire human rights record at all appropriate opportunities, and call on the regime to listen to the people's clear desire for meaningful change.

The UK's longstanding position on Taiwan has not changed. The UK acknowledges the position of the Chinese Government that Taiwan is a province of China. The UK has no diplomatic relations with Taiwan but a strong, unofficial relationship, based on deep and growing ties in a wide range of areas, and underpinned by shared democratic values. The UK has a clear interest in peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. We consider the Taiwan issue one to be settled peacefully by the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait through constructive dialogue, without the threat or use of force or coercion. We do not support any unilateral attempts to change the status quo.

The UK is committed to making progress towards a negotiated two-state solution and recognises the role of development in building the Palestinian Authority's capability for this. We continue to support The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which provides education to more than 533,000 children a year, half of which are girls, and access to health services for 3.5 million Palestinian refugees. We also continue to work with the Palestinian Authority to improve its financial management and security sector.

The UK attaches great importance to the principles of the UN Charter, including not to use force against the territorial integrity of other states. These principles must be defended. We agree on the importance of sports events for improving international relations, and have set out our position about when events are used to try to legitimise conflicts.

The UK has led the international community's engagement on elections in Somaliland and supported a joint statement with partners on 8 November urging Somaliland's political actors to agree on an electoral roadmap. Following the political demonstrations across Somaliland on 11 August, we raised this with the President and Minister of Foreign Affairs and issued a statement calling for all sides to behave peacefully and uphold the rights to assembly and association. It is important that agreement is reached between Somaliland stakeholders on a roadmap for elections. We continue to monitor the situation and to raise this issue with the Somaliland Government.

We are longstanding supporters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and their work to provide essential services to Palestinian refugees across the region, including in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs). We accompany our support for the UNRWA with stringent attention to implementation of their neutrality policy, including how they apply this to textbooks and other learning material to ensure they reflect UN values.

The UK fully supports Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) sovereignty and territorial integrity. The European Union Force Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR) remains vital. We are working hard to secure its mandate in the UN Security Council and prevent a security vacuum. We have led efforts at NATO to develop a new package of measures to support BiH, including support to the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo to counter disinformation, and are delivering training and capacity building to the BiH Armed Forces. In April, we imposed UK sanctions on Member of the Presidency, Milorad Dodik, and Republika Srpska President, Zeljka Cvijanovic, for their attempts to undermine Bosnia and Herzegovina's integrity, legitimacy and functionality.
