Mr. Bayley: Departmental officials are in contact with the Scottish Executive about the full impact of the Abolition of Feudal
Tenure (Scotland) Bill and will be examining the implications for benefit recipients.

Ms Roseanna Cunningham: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the terms of reference of the Scottish Law Commission's
investigation of the reform of Scottish land law. [57760]
Mr. McLeish: The Scottish Law Commission's work on the reform of Scottish land law is part of its Fifth Programme of Law Reform
submitted to the Lord Advocate on 7 February and published on 25 February 1997 published (Scot Law Com. No. 159). As stated in the
programme under item No. 6 the Commission aims to make recommendations for the abolition of the system of feudal tenure and its
replacement with a modern system based on the principle of absolute ownership of land.

Mr. Macdonald: No meetings have taken place to discuss land reform issues in Scotland between my right hon. Friend and the First
