To ask His Majesty's Government whether they considered any other sites managed by the Ministry of Defence before shortlisting Cameron Barracks and Crowborough army training camp for asylum accommodation; and if so, which sites they considered.
The Government has committed to close expensive asylum hotels and to achieve this, we will look at a range of cheaper, more appropriate sites like disused accommodation, industrial and ex-military sites so that we can reduce the impact on communities.
The MOD is stepping up to contribute to this whole of Government effort and is considering several sites. We are working closely with local authorities, property partners and across-government so that we can accelerate delivery and more detail will be set out in due course.
To ask His Majesty's Government whether alternative training facilities have been identified to replace Crowborough training camp; and if so, what estimate they have made of the cost and operational impact of redirecting units to those sites.

The Government takes the safety and wellbeing of all Cadets and Service personnel extremely seriously. The Ministry of Defence continues to work with the Home Office to assess the potential impact that housing asylum seekers on military bases could have on our Cadet Forces and future activities, including training, to develop any necessary mitigation actions. Our priority is to ensure these developments have limited impact on Cadets and we will always apply appropriate safeguarding measures so that we can continue delivering cadet programmes.
To ask His Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the impact on training schedules, capacity and operational readiness as a result of the use of Crowborough training camp for asylum accommodation.

To ask His Majesty's Government whether a risk assessment was conducted of the effect on reservist, cadet and regular unit training of diverting Crowborough training camp to non-military use; and, if not, why not.

To ask His Majesty's Government whether they plan to amend the eligibility criteria for the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy scheme to allow visas for the UK to be issued to those who were employed indirectly as well as directly to work for UK government departments or armed forces.
To ask His Majesty's Government whether they plan to amend the eligibility criteria for the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy scheme to allow visas for the UK to be issued to those who were employed indirectly as well as directly to work for UK government departments or armed forces.
The Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme already provides resettlement routes within the existing criteria for those formerly employed, directly or indirectly, by the UK Government. There are no current plans to widen the eligibility criteria.
The scheme’s full eligibility criteria can be found via the following link:
The new team of Ministers have made ARAP an early priority for the Department, to tackle problems which have been faced with processing ARAP applications and ensure the scheme delivers on our commitments to those brave Afghans who worked in support of UK objectives in Afghanistan.
