The Chancellor of the Exchequer’s department has asked the Government Property Agency (GPA) to respond to this question.
The GPA is responsible for commissioning building works and alterations on behalf of government organisations at 1 Horse Guards Road.
However, this application is not related to any works requested by any government organisation, and is driven by Landlord directed works. The detail of which is not held by the GPA.

The £375 million capital allocation for British Steel Limited is recoverable as a debt owed to the Crown. The sole stipulation for this funding is that it must be used strictly for the purposes established in the legislation. Recoverability of this debt will be further assessed at year-end and the resulting treatment will be reflected and published in the Department for Business and Trade's accounts for 2025-26.
The £375m is intended for British Steel Limited, a private limited company limited by shares incorporated in the United Kingdom under the Companies Act 2006 and registered in England and Wales with company number 12303256.

The Ministry of Defence followed all required approvals processes ahead of signing the Enterprise Agreement with Palantir on 30 December 2025. This included HM Treasury, Cabinet Office and Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
All necessary commercial and financial scrutiny was completed before the Department entered into the agreement.
