To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many airframes will be procured under the Jet Training System.
The Defence Investment Plan commits £360 million to the recapitalisation of the Jet Training System, including the provision of new aircraft for the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team (the Red Arrows). The programme will deliver a modernised training capability for both UK and international fast-jet training requirements.
The number of training jets that will enter service by 2030 has not yet been determined. Work is underway to define the detailed requirement, delivery approach and procurement strategy for the Future Jet Training System. As set out in the Defence Investment Plan, the Government's commitment at this stage is to deliver a recapitalised training system and new aircraft for the Red Arrows, with further details to be confirmed as the programme mature.

Routine engagement has occurred across the industry to inform future investment. We are working flat out to finalise the Defence Investment Plan, which will confirm funding for the next ten years.

Many of the Civil Service’s training needs can be delivered in-house, by civil servants. However, it is important to note that the Civil Service will always want to bring in expert knowledge, insight and learning from outside the Civil Service to ensure that civil servants have the right technical knowledge and skills.
The National School of Government and Public Services will deliver more training in house - especially for leadership and management, and core skills. Over the course of the next three years, Government Skills will increase the focus on in-house delivery where it is sensible to do so and, by April 2029, we will have moved to a new delivery model where we work directly with more suppliers.
Over this three year period, the Cabinet Office will use the Learning Frameworks 2.0 contracts to deliver training services to the Civil Service whilst the infrastructure needed by the National School of Government and Public Services is established.

To ask His Majesty's Government whether the invitation to tender for vessels for the Defence Marine Services Next Generation Contracts included any requirement for the employment of trainees or apprentices.
Each of the four Defence Marine Services - Next Generation (DMS-NG) contracts includes Social Value requirements, which are based on the most appropriate outcomes and themes as set out in the Social Value Model. The DMS-NG invitations to tender included education and training, requiring tenderers to support educational attainment relevant to the contract, including training schemes that address skills gaps and result in recognised qualifications. They did not prescribe or constrain how the tenderers should meet the requirements and did not specify requirements for trainees and apprentices separately in relation to the Vessel Replacement Programme (which is to be delivered as part of the In-Port Marine Services Contract).
