To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what steps he is taking to tackle anti-Sikh hate crimes and protect the Sikh community from targeted hate crime.
The government is committed to protecting the right of individuals to freely practise their religion. We will not tolerate anti-Sikh hatred in any form and will ensure hate crimes are prosecuted with the full force of the law.
We are providing record protective security funding for faith communities to bolster security at places of worship, faith schools and community centres through the Places of Worship Protective Security Scheme. This comes alongside the Faith Security Training Scheme, ensuring all faith leaders and volunteers, including within Sikh communities, are strengthening their security awareness and preparedness to respond to concerns.
We also provide funding to support True Vision, an online hate crime reporting portal that lets victims report incidents safely without visiting a police station. We welcome its work with the Sikh Guard and Rakka initiatives to encourage reporting in Sikh communities and help address concerns about the lack of a bespoke reporting and support service for Sikhs experiencing hate crime.

We have jointly responded to risks of atrocities - such as a potential RSF assault on El Obeid - through coordinated lobbying, joint statements, and convening an Urgent Debate at the Human Rights Council. On 19-20 August, we hosted Coalition partners for two-days, where we discussed innovative civilian protection measures and met with the UN Fact-Finding Mission to coordinate our support for their mandate renewal in October.

This Government is deeply concerned by the devastating impact online fraud can have on victims, both financially and emotionally, including that which is artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled.
That is why, under the Online Safety Act (OSA), the Government has taken action to ensure online platforms and services are required to implement robust preventative measures to stop fraudulent content from reaching potential victims. AI content is treated no differently to other types of content under the OSA – if it is fraudulent in nature, platforms are required to prevent it from reaching users and take swift action if it does appear.
From mid-2027 the largest in-scope companies will also be required to take greater steps to prevent fraudulent adverts from appearing, including those that are AI-enabled.

The 30-month review period for those granted protection reflects the Government’s view that protection should be provided for as long as it is needed. As conditions in countries of origin can change over time, it is appropriate to review whether an individual continues to require international protection before further permission is granted.
Individuals with an ongoing protection need will have their status renewed, while those who no longer require protection will be expected to leave the UK unless they qualify for leave on another basis. Safe return reviews have long been a feature of the UK's protection system. Protection needs can change over time, and it is therefore right that an individual's circumstances are reviewed before further leave or settlement is granted. The Government remains committed to providing protection to those who need it, in line with the UK's international obligations.
Settlement for those granted protection has never been automatic. Individuals have always needed to meet the requirements in place at the point they become eligible to apply, including demonstrating that they continue to require protection where relevant. The principle that protection should be provided for as long as it is needed, and reviewed where circumstances change, is a longstanding feature of the UK's protection system.
In addition, in future those on core protection will be able to switch to the protection work and study route, which will provide greater certainty about their future in the UK. This will also allow them to earn down the time it takes to obtain settlement and open up refugee family reunion rights. Individuals who switch to this route will no longer be subject to safe return reviews, recognising their contribution through work or study.

Safeguarding is firmly embedded within the core duties and statutory responsibilities of all organisations that provide National Health Services. The organisations that manage adult gender dysphoria clinics will have reference to NHS England's Safeguarding Accountability and Assurance Framework, 5th edition, published 2026, that sets out the safeguarding roles and responsibilities for NHS-commissioned providers and sets out the legal framework for safeguarding adults.

Police forces are operationally independent from Government. Chief Constables and their officers are responsible for determining what action is appropriate in individual cases, including when information should be shared with relevant safeguarding partners, local authorities or other agencies.
The statutory guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children sets out clear expectation that safeguarding partners must work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Practitioners should be alert to children showing signs of being drawn into anti-social or criminal behaviour and should consider whether a referral to local authority children's social care, or Youth Offending Team, is required.

The government will provide a package of support for parents and carers to support children in navigating the online world safely. This includes an expanded media literacy campaign and Kids Online Safety Hub, providing advice, practical tools and support to help parents and carers support their children in navigating the online world safely and confidently.
The government will also restrict risky features, including contact with strangers, across a wider range of services - banning them for under-16s and making them off by default for 16 and 17-year-olds. The government also announced that we will make it impossible for children to take, share or view naked pictures on their devices.
Finally, we have announced mandatory breaks for under-18s using chatbots, alongside committing to stronger action to address dangerous, misleading or unverified mental health advice.

To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what assessment has been made of the potential impact of the Gambling Commission's proposed affordability checks for bets of more than £1,000 on the horse racing industry.
To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what assessment has been made of the potential impact of the Gambling Commission's proposed affordability checks for bets of more than £1,000 on the horse racing industry.
The Government recognises the significant contribution that racing makes to British sporting culture and its importance to the British economy. Horseracing is the only sport in receipt of a direct government-mandated levy which helps to drive improvements in the sport.
On 7 July the Gambling Commission announced that its Board has decided to implement Financial Risk Assessments (FRAs) in a careful, phased way. The Government has been supportive of the policy intent behind these assessments, and welcomes their decision to do this in a careful phased way.
The vast majority of consumers will not face any change to their customer experience. A consumer who undergoes an FRA as a result of a net deposit of £1000 or more in a 24 hour period will not automatically be subject to operator action, such as account restrictions. It will instead be for the operator to determine whether or not action is needed, based on both FRA data and the data they already have on the consumer. It is therefore right that the Commission is taking a phased approach to implementation, to ensure that operators are given as clear guidance as possible on options for responding to an FRA.
We recognise the horseracing sector has concerns about FRAs. Both the Minister for Gambling and the Gambling Commission have met the British Horseracing Authority and wider racing stakeholders to discuss these concerns. We would now encourage the sector to engage constructively with the Commission during the upcoming implementation phase.

Attacks on humanitarian personnel in any circumstances are totally unacceptable, and it is deplorable for staff engaged in the already hugely dangerous work of demining in Ukraine to be killed or injured by Russian strikes. Russia's illegal invasion has left Ukraine with extensive explosive ordnance contamination, threatening civilians and acting as an obstacle to recovery, reconstruction and the safe return of displaced people.
Since June 2022, through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office's Global Mine Action Programme, the UK has funded UK NGO The HALO Trust to deliver humanitarian mine action interventions in Ukraine, latterly with UK NGO Mines Advisory Group and Ukrainian Deminers Association as downstream partners. Our demining efforts have released over 1,131,304 square metres of land and provided Explosive Ordnance Risk Education to 134,491 beneficiaries (June 2022 to end March 2026).
The UK has also provided equipment and training to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the State Transport Special Service to strengthen Ukraine's humanitarian demining sector. Our funding for these efforts in Ukraine is just one aspect of our wider support for demining activities in countries and regions across the world, delivered primarily through our Global Mine Action Programme.

We are concerned by any incidents of xenophobic violence and welcome the South African Government's public condemnation of attacks on foreign nationals and its commitment to uphold the rule of law and protect all those within its borders. We continue to engage with the South African Government and regional partners regarding these developments, including on public safety and human rights, as appropriate.

To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, how her Department will measure whether proposed new restrictions on (a) social media and (b) additional online functionalities for under-16s are improving children's safety and wellbeing in Yeovil constituency.
To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, how her Department will measure whether proposed new restrictions on (a) social media and (b) additional online functionalities for under-16s are improving children's safety and wellbeing in Yeovil constituency.
Government is committed to ensuring that children have the best start in life. Preventing social media companies from offering their services to under-16s will help children have a healthier relationship with technology.
We will monitor closely how these new measures work in practice and change children’s online experiences. We will use surveys, media monitoring data, justice and health statistics to understand effects on children’s attitudes, time online, and potential harms they face. Insights from parents, young people, platforms and experts will also be critical to evaluate these policies.
We will also work with Wellcome Trust, who will be funding independent nationwide studies of the impact of the social media ban on youth mental health, with research teams working with tens of thousands of teenagers across the UK.
