To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, how many people with physical disabilities require adapted accommodation from local authorities, broken down by each local authority area in the South East.
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, how many people with physical disabilities require adapted accommodation from local authorities, broken down by each local authority area in the South East.
Government does not hold this information.
The English Housing Survey periodically asks about housing adaptation needs. At the last time this was asked in 2019-20, 8% of all households in England (1.9 million) had at least one person with a long-standing physical or mental health condition who said they required adaptations to their home. This is based on a sample survey and cannot be broken down to local authority area level.

I refer the Hon Member to the Department’s strategy on Living with and Beyond Cancer in Chapter 4 of the National Cancer Plan available at the link below, which examines these and other issues in detail:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if she has made an assessment of the potential (a) financial and (b) other challenges faced by cancer patients in accessing appropriate evidence-based nutritional, lifestyle and wellbeing support alongside their treatment.

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, if she will publish the number of accessible properties that are (a) temporary accommodation (b) emergency accommodation and (c) social housing available through each local authority in the South East.
Temporary accommodation must be appropriate to the needs of the household, which includes accessibility needs.
MHCLG does not hold data on the number of accessible properties that are temporary accommodation, emergency accommodation or social housing available through local authorities in the South East.
Social media is being flooded by videos, often shared by young people, glorifying dangerous driving on roads like Beachy Head Road in Eastbourne, where dangerous driving claimed the life of 17-year-old Oakley Meer. While dangerous driving is a crime, its glorification is not necessarily. What steps is the Ministry of Justice taking to crack down on that, working with Ofcom, to achieve justice for Oakley and his family, who are campaigning to make that road safer?

The hon. Member is right to raise the issue, as death by dangerous driving is a horrific crime. In fact, straight after questions I will be meeting a victim of that very offence and next week I will meet the chair of the Sentencing Council. We can certainly look into how we can ensure that those who celebrate such offending are treated in the right way.

I recently met a homeless man at the homelessness charity the Matthew 25 Mission, who said that he had been “dumped” in temporary accommodation in Eastbourne by Brighton and Hove city council without the support that he needed. The previous Minister promised that she would review the out-of-area placement guidance for local authorities on this matter, so will this Minister meet me to discuss the progress of that review?

My mum and I survived domestic abuse when I was a child, but today many victims are petrified about their own survival in the light of the early release scheme. I know the Prime Minister has already excluded perpetrators of some offences from that scheme and pulled out the stops...

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what consideration he has given to reviewing criteria for those in receipt of Attendance Allowance to be able to access to the Motability scheme.
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what consideration he has given to reviewing criteria for those in receipt of Attendance Allowance to be able to access to the Motability scheme.
Attendance Allowance is intended to help those with a severe disability who have long term care or supervision needs which arise after reaching State Pension age. Government mobility support is focused on people who are disabled earlier in life; developing mobility needs in older life is a normal consequence of ageing, which non-disabled younger people have had opportunity to plan and save for.
There is no constraint on what an award of Attendance Allowance can be spent on, and a recipient may choose to use this benefit to fund mobility aids.
Qualifying benefits for the Motability Scheme are the enhanced rate mobility component Personal Independence Payment (enhanced rate mobility component Adult Disability Payment in Scotland), higher rate mobility component Disability Living Allowance (higher rate mobility component Child Disability Payment in Scotland), Armed Forces Independence Payment and War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement.
