To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, with reference to the standard for Priority 2, cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic case-finding, in the Cardiovascular Disease Modern Service Framework, whether she plans to introduce a metric capturing the detection of atrial fibrillation.
The NHS Health Check that is used to measure implementation of Priority 2 does not formally record atrial fibrillation, and as such, the Department and NHS England are still considering how we can better measure the full scope of the priorities set out in the modern service framework. Further updates will be provided in due course.

The Industrial Strategy, through the 10 Year Clean Energy Industries Sector Plan, backs hydrogen as a frontier technology. The associated Action Plan gives the green light to industry investors and the supply chain, announcing investment rounds and policies to turbocharge growth in the sector. Our understanding of where hydrogen can deliver the greatest value in our energy system has also matured and our renewed Hydrogen Strategy will set this out. We plan to publish the renewed Hydrogen Strategy as well as a new plan for industrial decarbonisation in due course.

The Government recognises the important role British manufacturers play in developing hydrogen technologies, including fuel cells. Hydrogen is backed as a frontier technology in the Industrial Strategy’s Clean Energy Industries Sector Plan. Funding is available from the public finance institutions, including GBE’s £1 billion Energy Engineered in the UK programme, which is designed to create jobs and support homegrown champions by crowding private investment into UK-based clean energy supply chains. We remain focused on growing the UK hydrogen economy by supporting investment in domestic manufacturing capabilities, and ensuring UK hydrogen and fuel cell companies can access high value opportunities in international markets.

Government remains committed to assessing the case for blending hydrogen into existing gas networks. To this end, we continue to work closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to progress the blending safety assessment, which is reviewing evidence on the safety of introducing hydrogen blends into the existing gas networks.

In 2025, Government consulted on hydrogen blending in the GB gas transmission network to explore the potential strategic benefits, and the technical and economic implications, of enabling hydrogen blends in the network. The consultation received more than 100 responses from stakeholders across the hydrogen value chain, including end users and hydrogen producers. DESNZ Ministers and officials have also met with hydrogen producers and gas networks to provide an update on the policy development for hydrogen blending.

That this House recognises the contributions of the 236 UK firefighters from 48 UK fire and rescue services who are attending the Terry Farrell Patriot Day Memorial Stair Climb at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia; further recognises the more than 2000 steps they will climb to represent the 110 floors climbed at the World Trade Centre; congratulates them on the honour of each of them wearing a lanyard bearing a photograph and name of the 343 members of the NYC fire department who lost their lives that day; also recognises the honour of being chosen to lead the climb and carry the ceremonial steel from the structure of the World Trade Centre on the opening ceremony; and believes these firefighters deserve recognition for doing this important event.

That this House celebrates the outstanding work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), which for more than 200 years has stood ready to save lives at sea, regardless of who is in danger; recognises the thousands of RNLI volunteers who give their time, often at considerable personal risk, to respond to emergencies and bring people safely home, providing an essential service to the nation; further celebrates the RNLI’s unique place in the life of communities across the United Kingdom and Ireland, and particularly recognises the important contribution made by the organisation to the town of Poole, where its headquarters and the RNLI College are based; expresses its pride in the RNLI’s world-leading role in international drowning prevention and in providing water safety education and awareness campaigns; notes that the RNLI is an independent charity whose lifeboat crews work in partnership with HM Coastguard to respond to people in distress at sea and whose lifeguards patrol our beaches; condemns the recent abuse, threats, and misinformation directed towards brave RNLI volunteers and staffers; insists that the RNLI’s volunteers should be able to carry out their lifesaving work without political pressure, prejudice or fear for their own safety; and urges the Government and the public to continue their support for this vital organisation to guarantee their future as a national institution of which communities across the country can be proud and so that the RNLI team can continue to act with courage, compassion and without discrimination.

The Responsible Business Conduct review was an evidence-based appraisal of the UK’s current policy approach to responsible business conduct, its impact and options to strengthen it further, including mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence.
The Government is considering the findings and will set out its position in due course.
