That this House commends the willingness of Her Majesty's Government and the pools companies to maintain funding for safety and improvement projects at football grounds through the Football Trust; welcomes the proposals to extend the availability of grant aid to non-League football, Rugby League, Rugby Union and cricket; confirms its view that the pools must be given the opportunity to compete on fair level terms the the National Lottery; and therefore calls on Her Majesty's Government to introduce an equitable tax regime between the two and to allow the pools the same access to advertising on television and radio as will be afforded the National Lottery.

That this House calls the attention of Her Majesty's Government to the fact that British beer drinkers pay seven times more duty on their pint than their French counterparts; notes that as a result increasing amounts of duty paid beer imports from France are creating a serious and growing threat to the jobs of 500,000 British workers employed directly or indirectly in the brewing industry and to 100,000 small businesses; notes, moreover, that for the first time in the history of the brewing industry, there is widespread black marketeering in exported British beers being purchased on the Continent and smuggled back into this country for sale; and accordingly urges Her Majesty's Government to take immediate steps to reduce beer duty to the European average to protect British jobs, promote further inward investment into Britain by European beer manufacturers, maintain the Government's commitment to law and order and achieve harmony and fair competition in the European Market.

That this House, in the interests of road safety and of reductions in congestion caused by broken down vehicles on the roadside, notes the advice of the Automobile Association and the Royal Automobile Club that the exemption in the Shops Act 1950 should be maintained; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to accept the Lords amendment to Schedule 13(1)(c) of the Sunday Trading Bill, which would allow all motor supply shops unrestricted trading on Sunday.

That this House welcomes the National BUSK campaign to make seat belts compulsory on all school buses; congratulates the Scottish branch, Carnwath and Biggar branch for its outstanding achievement in collecting 46,254 signatures supporting its campaign; reminds Her Majesty's Government that only legislation can provide the necessary protection for children travelling to and from school each day; calls for adult supervision on all school buses in addition to the driver; understands that sensible traffic management schemes are necessary to keep large articulated lorries off school routes where roads are narrow; and is determined to ensure that no more children have to lose their lives in road accidents whilst travelling to school before Her Majesty's Government responds to the immediate need to protect them by giving each child a separate seat, properly belted up with a three point seat belt.
