Dr. Fox: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimates he has made of the impact on obstetric services in South
Lanarkshire and surrounding areas of the closure of Bellshill and Rutherglen maternity hospitals. [18151]
Mr. Galbraith: In considering the closure of Bellshill and Rutherglen maternity hospitals, Ministers have taken fully into account
the impact on obstetric services in South Lanarkshire. I am confident that both Greater Glasgow and Lanarkshire Health Board's
Maternity Strategies will greatly improve the maternity services available to the mothers and babies in these areas.
