On a point of order, Mr Speaker. There is a great deal of concern across Parliament about the mysterious disappearance of the right hon. Member for Twickenham (Sir Vince Cable). He has been missing since last night. This morning, he was texting about being the only person really fighting Brexit....

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, how many times the former Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, the former hon. Member for Twickenham, held individual meetings with trade envoys in each year between September 2012 and May 2015.

It is an established convention that Minsters of one Administration cannot see the documents of a previous Administration. I am therefore unable to provide the information requested by the hon Member.
I thank the Leader of the House for his statement. Twenty four years ago today, Parliament passed legislation introducing section 28 into law. It was a nasty, discriminatory law that caused a lot of bullying and misery. After a fierce three-year battle, in the teeth of Tory opposition, we repealed...

I wait patiently for questions about next week’s business, but they are pretty hard to find. Let me go through the issues that the hon. Lady touched on.
The Government are consulting on equal marriage, which is something that the Labour party did not consult on, or indeed do anything about,...

I thank the Leader of the House for his statement, and may I wish all Members and you, Mr Speaker, a very happy new year? After a week in which the Government have made it clear that while they will act to make it easier for people at work to...

May I begin by reciprocating the right hon. Gentleman's very good wishes for the new year, and join him in extending those to you, Mr Speaker, and the whole of the House? We will take no lectures from the Opposition about the banks, because the regime that is currently operating...

The right hon. Gentleman is well aware of the constitution and procedures of this House—probably better aware than anyone here—so surely he must have some concerns about the slightly ridiculous situation created by the possibility of a Minister coming to the Dispatch Box in the tuition fees debate to try...

Further to the question by the hon. Member for Banbury (Tony Baldry), we have a Business Secretary who develops a policy on tuition fees, tells the country that it is the best policy possible, and then comes to this House and tells us that he has a strong inclination not...

The hon. Gentleman raises an issue that I have already dealt with. The coalition agreement is absolutely clear that on this particular issue Liberal Democrats are entitled to abstain.

The Cabinet has a united policy on this issue, which is more than the shadow Cabinet does.

That this House deplores the announcement by the hon. Member for Twickenham, in his capacity as acting Leader of the Liberal Democrat Party, that he will boycott meetings and events arranged as part of the official programme of the visit by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia to the UK; commends the work of the Government and the Official Opposition in fostering better relations with Saudi Arabia in the interests of improving the prospects for peace in the Middle East, increasing commercial and cultural exchanges between Saudi Arabia and the UK and developing a closer understanding between the peoples of the countries not least in the meetings of the UK-Saudi Two Kingdoms Dialogue; believes the policy of the Liberal Democrats to be further evidence of the political immaturity of that party and its lack of fitness for Government; and calls for the hon. Member for Twickenham to reverse his stance and commit to participating in meaningful and mature dialogue with the King of Saudi Arabia and his representatives in the interests of the UK, international diplomacy and global peace.

That this House notes that no representatives for the Liberal Democrat Party have played any role in the proceedings on the Financial Services and Markets Bill since 26th October and that their attendance before then had been at best 'patchy'; further notes that the role of the honourable Member for Twickenham as the representative of the Liberal Democrat Party from this House on the Pre-Scrutiny Burns Committee on the Bill was virtually non-existent; and is concerned that the Liberal Democrat Party is not taking seriously, or contributing to, the scrutiny of, this important and complex piece of legislation which will have an enormous influence on the whole financial services industry in the United Kingdom.
