That this House welcomes the promotion of private bills by the Tees and Hartlepool Port Authority and the Clyde Port Authority to convert themselves into commercial companies; congratulates these two ports on being the first to follow the advice of the former Secretary of State for Transport; welcomes the fact that these major new companies will be based upon and run from, the Tees and Clyde, respectively; believes that these two ports can and will play a vital role in the development of commerce and jobs on Teeside and Clydeside, and in enabling these regions to trade competitively and successfully in the single European market; and calls upon all honourable Members, irrespective of party, to support these most welcome regional initiatives.
