As Newmarket football club looks to get a new pitch, will the Secretary of State join me in sending the message to the foundation’s chief executive, Robert Sullivan, that we endorse that bid?

The hon. Member tempts me, but I am sure he is a powerful enough advocate for the bid on his own. I will say to him, though, that the Government have been working with the Football Foundation to make sure that communities that most need facilities but often struggle to navigate the process find it easier and less bureaucratic to manage. The foundation has been very open to those conversations, and I am delighted to hear that things are progressing in his constituency.

Scarborough Athletic football club is proudly 100% fan owned. Recently, the home ground that it rents from North Yorkshire council was declared unfit to play on due to botched astroturf installation. The club faces significant financial losses now that they need to play matches at another ground. Will the Minister meet me to discuss what support is available to secure the future of this beloved club, which is at the heart of our community?
