The Department has provided funding to the charity Gendered Intelligence through exchequer funding as follows:

• £600.00 on 02 August 2021 for a training course

• £134,430.00 on 06 March 2019 for Sport England Trans Inclusion Project

• £117,318.00 on 03 April 2020 for Sport England Trans Inclusion Project

• £11,214.323 on 01 October 2020 as part of the Big Night In campaign, administered by Children in Need on behalf of DCMS as part of the financial support for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to respond to coronavirus (COVID-19).

The National Lottery Community Fund funding to Gendered Intelligence is through lottery funds rather than from the Department.

DCMS has records of grant funding provided to the charity Gendered Intelligence from September 2017, either directly by the Department or through Arm’s Length Bodies or other delivery partners.

Gendered Intelligence has received funds directly from DCMS as a supplier of training on one occasion.

The National Lottery Community Fund has funded Gendered Intelligence to support young transgender people and their families through peer support sessions, mental health support and to reduce isolation.

Funding from Sport England enabled Gendered Intelligence to deliver capacity building training to national governing bodies; this was delivered through the Sport England’s Trans Inclusion Project.

Funding from the Voluntary and Community Sector Emergencies Partnership (VCSEP), as part of the financial support for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to respond to coronavirus (COVID-19), was intended to support those hardest hit by the coronavirus outbreak.

No specific assessment has been made. Gendered Intelligence are an independent charity and the government has no part to play in reviewing whether or not they filter the responses to their campaigns.

A) Since becoming the Minister for Women and Equalities in April this year, The Minister has had one introductory meeting with Stonewall to discuss LGBT policy, and one meeting with The Founder of a Women’s Place.

B) Since beginning its consultation engagement work in September 2017, the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) consultation team have met with the named organisations on the following number of occasions:

i. Mermaids: once

ii. Stonewall: four times

iii. Gendered Intelligence (GI): three times

iv. Transgender Trend: twice

v. Fair Play For Women (FPFW): twice

vi. A Woman’s Place (WP): three times

During the GRA consultation, officials in the Government Equalities Office also held roundtables with various groups, including: one on the topic of prisons and offender management, which was attended by FPFW; one with women’s organisations and charities, which was attended by FPFW and WP; one with LGBT organisations, which was attended by Stonewall, GI and Mermaids; and one focused on Wales, which was attended by Stonewall Cymru.

Ministers for the Government Equalities Office regularly meet with a wide range of organisations with an interest in equalities. In the past three years this has included organisations like Stonewall and A Woman’s Place UK.

Government Equalities Office officials have met over one hundred organisations in the run up to, and during, the publication of the Gender Recognition Act consultation. This includes Mermaids, Stonewall, Gendered Intelligence, A Woman's Place UK, Transgender Trend and Fair Play for Women. Officials have also met other women’s and LGBT groups, refuges and domestic abuse charities, unions, service providers, government departments and other European Governments.

Home Office Ministers have regular meetings as part of the process of policy development and delivery. No Minister has met with the named organisations in a Home Office capacity.

As part of our pre-consultation engagement in the run up to publishing the Gender Recognition Act Consultation, the Government Equalities Office met over 70 organisations and stakeholders. These included LGBT organisations, women’s groups, faith organisations, refuges and domestic violence campaign groups, local government, campaign organisations such as Woman’s Place UK, unions, transgender charities, government departments and other European governments. Gendered Intelligence were one of these groups.
