To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether she has considered including information on insurance ghost broking and identifying legitimate motor insurance providers within Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency communications and educational materials aimed at new and young drivers.
Information about insurance is included in the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’s (DVSA) learning and educational resources.
DVSA’s commercial partner site at https://www.safedrivingforlife.info/blog features advice and blog posts aimed at all drivers on various subjects, including information on insurance with contributions from responsible external organisations. DVSA promotes this information on its social media or its partner channels.

Better Connected: A Strategy for Integrated Transport sets out this Government’s ambition to scale up shared mobility. We have committed to publishing new guidance later this year for Local Authorities on actions they can take to support car sharing, which will include content on peer-to-peer car sharing. The Department is continuing to engage with stakeholders across the sector on broader issues.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment she has made of the compatibility of Irish motor insurance requirements for holders of UK driving licences with the principles of the common travel area.
Motor insurers are responsible for setting the terms and conditions of the policies that they offer, and it is for them to decide the level of risk that they take in issuing any policy to a given applicant. If an applicant wishes to drive a vehicle in the Republic of Ireland and possesses a UK driving licence, the insurer will decide on whether or not to offer a policy.
