To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether he has had discussions with the Deputy Chairman of the Christian Democratic Union on Russian gas supplies to Germany.
The Government continues to work closely with the Government of Germany and other partners to strengthen European energy security and maintain pressure on Russia. The Foreign Secretary has not raised the reported comments by the leader of the Alternative fur Deutschland with his German counterpart or discussed Russian gas supplies with the Deputy Chairman of the Christian Democratic Union. The Foreign Secretary and his German counterpart regularly discuss Russia's war against Ukraine, including support for Ukraine, European security, and the need to maintain pressure on Russia.
The Government supports efforts to strengthen European energy security and reduce dependence on Russian energy. The Government will continue to work with European partners to reduce the revenues available to Russia to fund its war against Ukraine.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what steps she is taking to align UK oil and gas production with climate targets.
The government is taking a pragmatic approach to the North Sea, in line with our climate and legal obligations. The North Sea remains a vital national asset and oil and gas will continue to play an important role in our energy system for decades to come, alongside transitioning to clean power to protect jobs and tackle the climate crisis.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what recent discussions he has had with representatives of the Falkland Islands Government on the importance of the Falkland Islanders' right to self-determination in relation to offshore oil and gas exploration.
The right of the Falkland Islanders to develop their natural resources for their own economic benefit is integral to their right of self-determination. When deciding whether to consent to new hydrocarbons licences in the Falkland Islands, the Secretary of State acts in accordance with applicable Falkland Islands legislation. UK oil and gas licensing policy does not apply in the Falkland Islands.
I met Members of the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly on 3 September and discussed ongoing economic development projects in the Falklands.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what recent discussions she has had with hydrogen suppliers on making the gas network hydrogen-ready.
In 2025, Government consulted on hydrogen blending in the GB gas transmission network to explore the potential strategic benefits, and the technical and economic implications, of enabling hydrogen blends in the network. The consultation received more than 100 responses from stakeholders across the hydrogen value chain, including end users and hydrogen producers. DESNZ Ministers and officials have also met with hydrogen producers and gas networks to provide an update on the policy development for hydrogen blending.

Employers have a legal duty under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 to manage the risk to employees from work-related violence, which includes:
- verbal abuse,
- threats and intimidation,
- physical assault,
- abuse by customers or members of the public.
The duty extends to employees visiting customers' homes, including gas engineers. Employers are expected to assess and manage those risks. To assist employers, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published guidance on how to assess the risks and put the right controls in place to protect workers. There is specific guidance on violence and aggression at work: Violence and aggression at work - HSE and for lone workers: Lone working: Protect those working alone - HSE
If an employee has experienced violence in connection with a work activity, HSE encourages them to report this to their employer. Employers, certain self-employed people and those in control of work premises must report certain workplace injuries, dangerous occurrences and occupational diseases to HSE under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR). Workers may also want to report instances of violence or intimidation to the police.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what steps she is taking to help make the gas pipe network hydrogen-ready.
Government remains committed to assessing the case for blending hydrogen into existing gas networks. To this end, we continue to work closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to progress the blending safety assessment, which is reviewing evidence on the safety of introducing hydrogen blends into the existing gas networks.

According to figures published by Future Energy Networks on 14th April 2026, gas networks received a total of 113 enquiries concerning data centre gas connections between 2024 and 2025.
Our analysis suggests there are a number of credible pathways to meeting Carbon Budgets, and we will continue to test a range of data centre growth trajectories to ensure we meet these as we form our next Carbon Budget Delivery Plan. We will also continue monitoring emerging demand, to inform where further mitigation or system adjustments may be required.
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, how many data centres currently in operation are powered by gas; and what assessment her department has made of the emissions from these data centres, relative to those connected to the grid.
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, how many data centres currently in operation are powered by gas; and what assessment her department has made of the emissions from these data centres, relative to those connected to the grid.
The Government does not hold information on the exact number of data centres that are powered by gas, however the vast majority of these assets are powered by the grid. Government is driving rapid progress to decarbonise the power sector by building unprecedented amounts of renewable generation.
Emissions associated with a data centre depend on factors including the generating technology used, its efficiency, operating patterns, and the carbon intensity of electricity supplied from the grid.
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, how many claims for compensation have been made under the Gas (Street Works) (Compensation of Small Businesses) Regulations 1996, since the start of 2025.
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, how many claims for compensation have been made under the Gas (Street Works) (Compensation of Small Businesses) Regulations 1996, since the start of 2025.
The compensation entitlement under these Regulations is a private statutory right against a gas transporter. The Regulations do not create a regime that is administered or overseen by Government or Ofgem. Therefore, the data being sought is not held by Government.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, pursuant to the answer of 14 July 2026 to question 16797, how many times since 1 January 2025 have the industry emergency stocks been used.
There has been one International Energy Agency coordinated emergency stock release since January 2025 – the action announced on 11 March 2026 in response to the Middle East conflict and Strait of Hormuz disruption. The UK's contribution was ~14 million barrels which DESNZ moved quickly to make available by lowering the obligation on companies to hold stocks. Further information on industry stock levels can be found at: ET_3.11_AUG_26.xlsx

To meet the UK’s oil-stocking obligation as a member of the International Energy Agency, the Secretary of State requires companies that supply more than 50,000 tonnes of key petroleum products to the UK inland market over a 12-month period to hold emergency stocks. This currently applies to 16 refiners and importers. Obligations are allocated among these companies so that the UK holds stocks equivalent to 90 days of net oil imports. Companies report stock levels to the Department monthly, and more frequently during an International Energy Agency stock release. The Department also carries out on-site audits.
