There are no plans to move any flying operations from RAF Valley to RAF Leeming. RAF Valley will remain the home of UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) Hawk T2, Texan T1 and Jupiter fleets.
We have announced that the Qatar Emiri Air Force will base their new Hawk Mk167 aircraft at RAF Leeming and these will be jointly manned by RAF personnel. We have also announced Hawk T1 with 100 Squadron will drawdown at RAF Leeming later in the decade.
The hon. Lady refers to two bits of potential industrial action. I have written to her about RAF Leeming in the
last month. Obviously, it is a source of concern when employers and employees fall out, but I am not going to get into discussions on the specific action involved. We urge all those involved to come to an agreement.

Just last week, Faslane and Coulport workers walked out over low wages and the looming break-up of their single bargaining unit. What action can the Minister take to stop these loyal staff being exploited?

That this House is concerned that Babcock Aerospace workers providing operational and engineering services at the RAF Leeming base near Northallerton, North Yorkshire, are presently denied shift payments of around £5,000 per annum awarded to their colleagues undertaking the same safety-critical duties at RAF Valley in Wales; believes that this pay disparity unfairly impacts on the skilled and dedicated workforce; notes that Unite the Union has sought to avoid the need to take industrial action, but the intransigence of Babcock management in refusing to address the disparity in pay has rendered this unavoidable; and therefore calls on the employer to enter into meaningful negotiations with the union to avoid any future disruption to training flights and to ensure that the workers at the base are fairly remunerated.

The negotiations with BAE Systems have yet to conclude and any subsequent business case will be subject to a robust scrutiny process to ensure value for money and balance of investment. As part of these negotiations, consultation and meetings have taken place between BAE Systems and the Unite Trade Union.
A formal decision on the future support arrangements for Hawk TMk1 and TMk2 will complete once the scrutiny process has concluded.
