I would love to come to RAF Valley at some point. I visited my hon. Friend’s constituency before she was a Member; it is a beautiful part of the United Kingdom. I pay tribute to everybody who works in this sector and who steps into the breach and works hard to ensure that those coming out of service with particular needs are supported, and that we look after them in the manner that I want to see.

Baroness Mone and her husband made a £60 million profit on a £200 million contract for personal protective equipment, much of which the NHS deemed unusable. The couple, reportedly, have had £75 million of assets frozen, but they also have a horse running in Britain’s favourite horserace, the grand national. That is not racing’s fault, but would it not be a grand national disgrace if the owners were able to walk away with winnings while taxpayers are still waiting to get their money back from being sold a mountain of unusable PPE?

Dedicated people such as Kath Eastment of SSAFA, Piers Beeland from the Royal British Legion and the RAF Valley Padre Mike Hall work tirelessly to support veterans across Ynys Môn. I am delighted that a veterans hub is to open at RAF Valley on Friday 22 March, which will give local veterans a place to meet and access support. Will my right hon. Friend extend his congratulations to the team responsible, and will he come to RAF Valley to visit the hub?

The Ministry of Defence's (MOD) commitment to RAF Valley is enduring. It is the second largest employer on Ynys Mon and the largest single employer on the island of skilled workers with around 1,200 civilian contractors and 300 uniformed personnel based there. The MOD continues to invest heavily in the station, including investment announced in the last 18 months of some £775 million that will continue to support hundreds of skilled jobs in the local area over the coming years.

Texan aircraft based at RAF Valley operate over a number of areas, including the North Wales Military Training Area and the Valley Aerial Tactics Area, which extend over a significant portion of north and mid-Wales, as well as the Irish Sea. Through its flight planning and daily tasking processes, RAF Valley works to distribute training flights to differing areas as equitably and fairly as possible.
However, there is no requirement for RAF Valley to retain post-flight any details of specific areas or Parliamentary constituencies actually overflown. Therefore, it is not possible to provide detailed information on specific proportions of flying hours overflying any given geographical area.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what recent assessment he has made of levels of noise pollution from Texan training planes flying over Arfon; and what recent steps he has taken to reduce noise disruption.
The Texan aircraft complies fully with relevant international aviation noise standards.
Arfon lies fully under the North Wales Military Training Area which provides valuable and regularly used training airspace for RAF Valley and other military aerodromes. This training area offers specific advantages in terms of scale, terrain and deconfliction from other airspace users that meet many essential training requirements for the RAF and the Texan fleet.
However, the Station plans the use of this airspace carefully, and works closely with the Texan Squadron to distribute training as equitably and fairly as possible. A significant proportion of Texan flying is undertaken in other areas, where these provide suitable conditions to meet essential training objectives, including overwater areas in order to minimise disturbance to local communities and ease the congestion within the North Wales Military Training Area.

Will my right hon. Friend join me in thanking all the members of the armed forces who worked so hard to make the Queen’s platinum jubilee such a success? In particular, will he thank those from RAF Valley for the spectacular fly-past over Buckingham Palace? Perhaps he would like to come to Anglesey to thank them himself.

I was there only a few weeks ago. I think the whole House would like to give our thanks to the armed forces for the work they did over that weekend and for all the hours of rehearsal they do, sometimes in the middle of the night, which none of us ever see, to make things very special. From Trooping the Colour on the Thursday all the way through to the pageant, our armed forces did us proud, as did a number of the armed forces from the Commonwealth, which were also in attendance and on parade that day. Our armed forces are absolutely part of the fabric of our society and part of the greatness of the United Kingdom. I am delighted not only that they were there on parade, but that it was a privilege for us to see the royal family so held in high regard by those men and women of the armed forces.

In training our future fast jet pilots, RAF Valley plays a vital role in our national security. It has taken a number of measures to minimise disturbance to local communities from the Texan aircraft, including spreading operational training as widely and equitably as possible, rotating regularly through training areas in any day; conducting an increased proportion of Texan flights over the sea; and increasing the amount of training conducted in simulators.
