To ask the Attorney-General whether the Metropolitan police approached the Crown Prosecution Service for early consultation or a pre-charge decision in relation to allegations of sexual touching made against Lord Rennard.
There was early investigative consultation between Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in relation to the allegations made against Lord Rennard. In accordance with the Director of Public Prosecutions’ guidance on charging, the MPS did not refer the case to the CPS for a charging decision.
