On 19 May, the Government announced a £30 million, three-year crackdown targeting cash-intensive businesses on our high streets, including activity to disrupt money laundering and illegal working.
Operational activity is being coordinated by the National Crime Agency, in conjunction with the National Police Chiefs’ Council, with partner agencies collecting data on enforcement outcomes including premises visited, arrests and seizures.
In parallel, the High Street Organised Crime Unit is developing a longer-term strategic response, including consideration of stronger powers and better coordination to prevent criminal activity. The Unit is working across Government, including with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and HM Revenue and Customs, to support development of the High Street Strategy.
More broadly, we want local partners to take a joined-up, place-based approach to the problems that make high streets feel unsafe, bringing together policing, local authorities and other agencies to identify and tackle the premises, offenders and locations causing the greatest harm.

The UK remains concerned by recent actions targeting LGBT+ individuals and civil society organisations in Türkiye. We have raised these concerns with the Turkish Government on multiple occasions and will continue to do so. This includes on 14 September when Lord Wood raised the UK's concerns regarding these events with his Turkish counterpart. Lord Collins, the UK Special Envoy for LGBT+ Rights, also raised our concerns on 22 September. The UK is a staunch supporter of fundamental rights and supports the rights of all minority groups in Türkiye, including the LGBT+ community. We expect Türkiye to uphold the rule of law and to live up to its international obligations as a member of the Council of Europe.

As stated in the answer to Question 22809, the assets were seized by the Polish authorities as part of an independent investigation into the supplier which was unrelated to the Ministry of Defence's procurement activity. The reason for the seizure is a decision for the Polish authorities not the Ministry of Defence.

Section 8 of the Crime and Policing Act 2026, which amended section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 came into force on 29 June. The Home Office has not collected vehicle seizure data since the new provisions came into force.

The fruitless payment of £1.039 million related to assets procured under a short-term contract let in line with existing normal processes.
This included a due diligence visit to verify manufacturing capabilities, supply chain and deliverability of the requirement.
The procurement formed part of a project involving multiple government stakeholders, which increased its complexity.
The assets were subsequently seized by the Polish authorities as part of an independent investigation into the supplier which was unrelated to the Ministry of Defence's procurement activity. As a result, the assets could not be recovered or returned to the Department.

Border Force works with law enforcement partners under Operation Shiraz to identify and disrupt the importation of child-like sexual abuse dolls and related items into the United Kingdom. Seizures made under the operation are recorded for operational and intelligence purposes.
The Home Office does not publish official statistics on seizures made under Operation Shiraz and does not hold a verified annual breakdown suitable for publication. Protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation remains a priority for this Government.
Border Force plays an important role in preventing prohibited and harmful items from entering the United Kingdom and works closely with domestic and international partners to detect, seize and investigate suspected criminal activity.

Border Force uses advance data and intelligence to risk assess movements crossing the UK Border; this includes targeting the illegal importation of offensive weapons to prevent their delivery to a UK recipient. Border Force works with other agencies tirelessly to protect our borders and keep the public safe from harmful or illegal bladed weapons.

The Government does not currently publish the amount of cryptocurrency restrained or recovered under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

HMRC does not hold figures for the number of cigarettes seized using Track and Trace technology in each of the last five years.
However, since July 2023, Trading Standards teams making such seizures have also been able to check products for non-compliance with the UK Tobacco Track and Trace system and refer cases to HMRC for civil sanctions where appropriate. HMRC’s Track and Trace sanctions can include penalties of up to £10,000 and, in repeat cases, removal from the legitimate tobacco supply chain.
