To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps her Department is taking to support SEND pupils who are over 16 with home-school transport provision in Surrey Heath constituency.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps her Department is taking to support SEND pupils who are over 16 with home-school transport provision in Surrey Heath constituency.
In Surrey Heath, post-16 transport support is provided under Surrey County Council's county-wide Post-16 Transport Policy Statement. Transport is not automatically free after age 16, but assistance may be available for eligible learners, including young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and those aged 19 to 25 with an education, health and care plan. Eligibility is assessed against factors such as need, distance, accessibility and financial circumstances, and support may include travel passes, allowances or other travel assistance.
The 2026 SEND consultation recognised that some children and young people are required to travel long distances where suitable support is not available locally. The proposals aim to improve early support, strengthen mainstream inclusion and develop more consistent local provision through greater collaboration between education, health and local authority partners, helping more children and young people have their needs met closer to home and reducing reliance on longer-distance travel.

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that support under the Crisis and Resilience Fund takes account of costs faced by households affected by disability and long-term health conditions in Surrey Heath constituency.
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that support under the Crisis and Resilience Fund takes account of costs faced by households affected by disability and long-term health conditions in Surrey Heath constituency.
The Crisis and Resilience Fund provides support to households with a wide range of needs, including those affected by disability and long-term health conditions. Local authorities such as Surrey County Council have the funding, flexibility, and discretion to design support that reflects local needs and priorities within the broad scope of DWP’s guidance.
DWP has compliance and monitoring processes to monitor delivery, including requiring local authorities to submit annual delivery plans and six-monthly management information returns.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment her Department has made of the potential benefits of increasing funding for outdoor play and learning opportunities in schools in Surrey Heath constituency.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment her Department has made of the potential benefits of increasing funding for outdoor play and learning opportunities in schools in Surrey Heath constituency.
Each year, schools receive core funding from the department to cover their expenditures. The funding schools receive is not ringfenced for any specific form of expenditure, and it is for each school to determine how this money will be best used to support their individual circumstances. That includes expenditures on outdoor play and learning opportunities.
Through the schools block of the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG), Surrey local authority, which allocates funding for Surrey Heath, is receiving £6,361 per pupil on average in the 2026/27 financial year (including premises funding but excluding growth funding). That is a 2.5% increase in funding per pupil compared to the 2025/26 financial year.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment her Department has made of the potential merits of increasing funding for outdoor play and learning facilities in schools in Surrey Heath constituency.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment her Department has made of the potential merits of increasing funding for outdoor play and learning facilities in schools in Surrey Heath constituency.
The government recognises the important role that outdoor play and learning can play in supporting children's wellbeing, development and enrichment. Schools are required to have suitable outdoor space for pupils to play, and we support schools through wider programmes including the Enrichment Framework and National Education Nature Park.
In addition, the government is investing just under £200 million to improve school sports facilities, recognising the importance of high-quality outdoor and indoor spaces in supporting children's physical activity and wider development. The government has given a long-term commitment for capital investment through to 2034/35 to improve the condition of schools and college buildings and grounds across England.
We are investing almost £3 billion per year by 2034/35 in capital maintenance, rising from £2.4 billion in 2025/26. For the 2026/27 financial year, Surrey County Council, which includes Surrey Heath constituency, has been allocated a School Condition Allocation of just over £6 million to allocate across its maintained schools based on local knowledge of need. Academy trusts and voluntary aided bodies with schools in the constituency also have access to capital funding, with details of funding published on GOV.UK.

I see the Minister shaking his head, and I am encouraged by that visual sign. We already know who maintains the A322, but the heart of the problem is the way in which the A322 interacts with the M3. If Surrey county council and National Highways cannot tackle that challenge...

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what support is available through Jobcentre Plus for Universal Credit claimants who are already in part-time work and wish to retrain or gain qualifications to increase their earnings in Surrey Heath constituency.
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what support is available through Jobcentre Plus for Universal Credit claimants who are already in part-time work and wish to retrain or gain qualifications to increase their earnings in Surrey Heath constituency.
In Surrey Heath, Jobcentre Plus supports Universal Credit claimants who are already in and out of work, to explore opportunities to develop their skills, gain relevant qualifications and progress towards higher earnings. Support is personalised to individual circumstances and local labour market supply and demand opportunities.
The Jobcentre network across Surrey has local partnerships with training providers and educational organisations. Through these partnerships, claimants are connected to upskilling and vocational training opportunities, including Skills Bootcamps in the Industrial Growth sectors of digital and green energy, and logistics. JCS has good relationships with Surrey County Council, and their investment in their Skills, Training & Employment Portal enables access to a host of opportunities and support across the County by enabling all residents to access information about the skills they need and the jobs available. Jobcentres also work with local providers and employers to deliver Sector-based Work Academy Programmes (SWAPs), and commission basic skills training covering literacy, numeracy, and digital skills.
The DWP Careers Service was launched on 6 October 2026, bringing the skills expertise of the previous National Careers Service into jobcentres, giving an integrated support offer for citizens in and out of work.
The Flexible Support Fund (FSF) is administered by Jobcentres and can help eligible Universal Credit claimants overcome specific financial barriers to moving into or closer to work. This can include support with training fees not funded elsewhere, as well as other support. The fund is discretionary and payments are made subject to individual circumstances.

The Government recognises the current system could do more to support the many dads and partners who want to be more actively involved in supporting their partner and take on a more equal role in caring for their children.
That is why we are currently undertaking a Review of the Parental Leave and Pay system. This will conclude in early 2027 with a set of findings in which the Government will outline next steps for taking any potential reforms forward to implementation.
All current Parental Leave and Pay entitlements are in scope of the Review, including Paternity Leave and Pay.

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what estimate the Department has made of the number of households in Surrey Heath constituency served by shared sewers or pumping stations that have not been adopted by a water company.
Almost all private sewers, lateral drains, and pumping stations built before 2011 should have been adopted by water companies. In cases where adoption has not occurred, householders are advised to contact Ofwat.
We have recently consulted on the adoption of shared amenities, including SuDS and sewers, and are now considering next steps.
