The Government has no plans to publish the 2026 prospectus and no plans to place the 2027 prospectus in the Libraries of either House.
Applications to pilot at combined authority mayoral elections will be considered.

A number of local authorities withdrew their applications to participate in flexible voting pilots for the May 2026 elections following the planned postponement of their polls, which meant pilots could no longer be delivered as intended, despite the elections going ahead.
In addition, Plymouth City Council withdrew due to safety concerns arising from a planned protest outside the proposed pilot venue on the day of the pilot.
The total provided in respect of pilot delivery activity that could not proceed following a local authority's withdrawal from the May 2026 flexible voting pilots was £394,272. Funding was also provided for the development of wider pilot capability that was not deployed at the May 2026 elections but may be used to support potential future pilots.

Funding provided to Plymouth City Council, Stevenage Borough Council and Tamworth Borough Council relates to costs incurred in preparation for a flexible voting pilot activity prior to the withdrawal of their applications. The amounts provided reflect the sunk costs sustained by each authority for work undertaken up to that point, including relevant digital service development work that we anticipate supporting any future piloting schemes and potential roll-out.

No departmental resources were deployed in facilitating the visit to Tamworth. No briefing materials were prepared by my department in preparation of the visit.
As I said in response to Question UIN 13191 on 8 February 2024, this was a political visit arranged through political channels at no cost to the taxpayer.

The Government is committed to levelling up the whole country. Tamworth has been awarded £21.65 million from the Future High Street Fund to deliver regeneration of the Town Centre.
The department understands that inflation is an issue facing many projects. Where requests to re-scope projects are submitted, we are looking to deal with these flexibly, provided changes still represent good value for money. Details of meetings with external organisations are published on Gov.uk.
