To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will meet with young people with cancer supported by Teenage Cancer Trust ahead of the publication of the National Cancer Plan.
The Department is committed to ensuring the unique needs of young people with cancer are carefully considered as part of the National Cancer Plan, due for publication in the coming weeks. Since its launch on 4 February 2025, the Children and Young People (CYP) Cancer Taskforce has been working to identify tangible ways to improve outcomes and experiences for children and young people with cancer. The taskforce will explore opportunities for improvement across detection and diagnosis, genomic testing and treatment, research and innovation, and patient experience.
The Government is committed to including the voices of young cancer patients in the work of the taskforce and the National Cancer Plan. That’s why the Government assembled a Patient Experience Panel, made up of young people with lived experience of cancer and their families, which will feed directly into the work of the taskforce.
The Government is also aware of the unique challenges that teenagers with cancer face, often falling in between paediatric and adult care. The CYP Cancer Taskforce has a dedicated charity sub-group which has engaged with the Teenage Cancer Trust, alongside other charitable groups, to ensure these challenges are addressed in the National Cancer Plan. I would like to thank the Teenage Cancer Trust, other charities, and the CYP Cancer Taskforce for their valuable input into the plan.
That this House celebrates 24 years of the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at the Royal Albert Hall which have raised over £32 million, money that has helped fund specialist nurses, hospital units and support services right across the UK; applauds the work of Teenage Cancer Trust’s Honorary Patron and the concert’s founder and curator, Roger Daltrey, who for 24 years has persuaded some of the most well-known artists from across the world perform special, one-of-a-kind shows to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust; welcomes the unforgettable opportunity the shows also offer for young people being cared for at Teenage Cancer Trust units to experience going backstage at these concerts; and notes that every day seven young people aged 13-24 will receive a cancer diagnosis, that this number is rising, and that Teenage Cancer Trust provides specialist nursing care and support to get them through it.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps she is taking to make the Teenage Cancer Trust's education sessions available in every school.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps she is taking to make the Teenage Cancer Trust's education sessions available in every school.
This Government believes that schools are best placed to understand their students’ needs. Teachers are able to cover cancer awareness in personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education lessons.
In conjunction with the PSHE Association, the Teenage Cancer Trust have created resources, such as ‘What is Cancer?’[1]. The Trust provides a number of other resources to support teaching throughout the curriculum on a variety of healthy living and employment related topics.
The Trust also provides free Education Sessions for secondary schools, colleges and universities, which are 45-60 minutes long and cover a range of issues about cancer. These sessions can be booked through the Teenage Cancer Trust website.
The non-statutory programme of study for PSHE includes information about cancer awareness and prevention and schools can also draw on resources such as those provided by the Teenage Cancer Trust.

That this House notes that six teenagers a day are diagnosed with cancer; notes that the diagnosis of cancer in young people is both devastating and disruptive to normal life and in particular that the effect of treatment may mean that they are not always able to comply with dress codes for bars and clubs; further notes the success of the pioneering Don't hide it, wear it with pride identity card scheme allowing patients access to such facilities; congratulates the Christie Crew for initiating this pioneering scheme; welcomes the Teenage Cancer Trust's roll-out of the scheme nationwide; and invites landlords and proprietors to sign up to it forthwith.
