That this House condemns the victimisation of Mr Dave Toomer, Father of the Chapel of the National Union of Journalists at the Bolton Evening News, owned by Newsquest plc, an employer known to be virulently anti-union; further notes that Newsquest have been intimidating Mr Toomer for several months and have now made him redundant by taking advantage of the existing law to get rid of an active trade unionist cheaply; believes that Newsquest have done this in the hope of extinguishing effective trade union activity by the time that the Government's welcome proposals on fairness at work become law; and calls upon Newsquest to re-instate Mr Toomer immediately in his former job.
