To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment he has made of the research by TRL Limited on relative accident levels on puffin crossings and pelican crossings.
The research by TRL Limited was commissioned by the Department for Transport. The report was published in January 2011 and is available to download from the TRL website at:

The report concluded that converting pelican to puffin crossings could result in a reduction in accidents.
It is for local authorities to take this, and any other relevant information, into account when deciding what type of crossing to provide at any particular location.
