To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what recent assessment she has made of the adequacy of the availability of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder medication in Weaver Vale constituency.
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what recent assessment she has made of the adequacy of the availability of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder medication in Weaver Vale constituency.
The Department has been working hard with industry to help resolve supply issues with some attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) medicines, which are affecting the United Kingdom and other countries around the world. This has involved asking that suppliers expedite deliveries to boost supplies of these important medicines, and address regulatory issues to ensure continuity of supply. As a result of our ongoing activity and intensive work, some issues have been resolved. Many strengths of lisdexamphetamine and all strengths of atomoxetine capsules and guanfacine are now available, although medicine supply issues remain for some strengths of lisdexamphetamine and methylphenidate. We continue to escalate these issues with manufacturers to ensure that they are taking responsibility for resolving them as quickly as possible, and to drive and monitor progress.
We monitor and manage medicine supply at a national level so that stocks remain available to meet regional and local demand. The Department does not hold information on stockholdings at a local level.

In July 2022 we announced a package of reforms to improve access to National Health Service dentistry, which outlined the steps we are taking to meet oral health needs and increase access to dental care, including in Weaver Vale. The changes that have been implemented include improvements to ensure dentists are remunerated more fairly for more complex work and the introduction of a minimum Units of Dental Activity value.
From 1 April 2023, responsibility for commissioning primary care dentistry to meet the needs of the local population has been delegated to all integrated care boards (ICBs) across England. ICBs are responsible for having local processes in place to identify areas of need and determine the priorities for investment.
The NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, published on 30 June 2023, sets out the steps the NHS and its partners need to take to deliver an NHS workforce that meets the changing needs of the population over the next 15 years. These include a 40% increase to dentistry undergraduate training places by 2031/32.
But we know we need to do more, and that there are some areas where access is particularly problematic. We are working on our Dentistry Recovery Plan which will address how we continue to improve access, particularly for new patients, and how we make NHS work more attractive to ensure NHS dentists are incentivised to deliver more NHS care.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) publish quarterly and annual vaccine coverage data to track the performance of all national immunisation programmes including protection against tetanus, polio, diphtheria and meningococcal disease. Vaccine coverage data shows national as well as regional levels and is available at the following link:
NHS England, the Department and UKHSA are committed to increase coverage across all immunisation programmes with efforts including national news coverage raising awareness of continued availability of routine immunisations, and the importance of taking up vaccination offers.
It is vitally important that everyone takes up the vaccinations to which they are entitled; for themselves, their families, and wider society. Anyone unsure about their eligibility or vaccination status should contact their general practitioner for advice.

- Disclosure control has been applied to all figures, as per the National Diabetes Audit publication – all numbers are rounded to the nearest five, unless the number is one to seven, in which case it is rounded to ‘5’.
- Locations are represented in the National Diabetes Audit dataset using the Lower Layer Super Output Area (LSOA) of the person in the audit year. A direct mapping of these geographies to a specific Westminster Parliamentary Constituencies does not exist, meaning while the figures provided for Weaver Vale are likely close to the true value, they should not be considered exact.

Over 85% of eligible households have received the payment automatically via their electricity supplier during February. Most households did not need to take any action to receive the support. A small proportion of households will need to apply for the AFP, for example because they do not have a relationship with an electricity supplier. Applications for this Alternative Fund opened on 6 March through a GOV.UK portal which includes an overview of eligibility and what steps households need to take to apply for support.

Initially we will work with 10 police force areas, but from 2024 will support a hotspot approach across every police force area in England and Wales.
We are also providing up to £50m to support the provision of Immediate Justice, by issuing out of court disposals with conditions to swiftly repair any damage – the aim being for them to start within 48 hours of the offence. This will start in 10 initial trailblazer police force areas and be rolled out nationally in 2024.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what recent assessment she has made of the implications for her policies of trends in rates of perinatal mortality in Weaver Vale constituency.
No specific assessment has been made. The Government’s national maternity safety ambition aims to halve the 2010 rates of stillbirths, neonatal and maternal deaths and brain injuries in babies occurring during or soon after birth, by 2025. Since 2010, the rate of stillbirths has reduced by 19.3%, the rate of neonatal mortality for babies born over 24 weeks gestational age of viability has reduced by 36% and maternal mortality has reduced by 17%.
We have introduced targeted interventions to accelerate progress, such as the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle and the Brain Injury Reduction Programme. NHS England has also invested £127 million in National Health Service maternity workforce and improving neonatal care. This is in addition to the £95 million investment made in 2021 to fund the establishment of a further 1,200 midwifery and 100 consultant obstetrician posts. NHS England is offering funding and support to trusts to recruit an additional 300 to 500 overseas midwives in the next 12 months.
