That this House remembers with solemn respect Joseph Julius Stephen QGM, the Metropolitan line train driver who was murdered while courageously confronting the terrorist responsible for the IRA attack at West Ham Underground Station on 15 March 1976; marks the 50th anniversary of that attack; further remembers the nine people who were injured in the bombing and shooting that took place that day; condemns unequivocally the campaign of IRA terrorism which brought violence, fear and suffering to communities across the United Kingdom; pays tribute to the bravery shown by those who responded in the aftermath of the attack; and commends the Ancre Somme Association Charity for hosting an event to mark the 50th anniversary of the attack and for its work in promoting remembrance and ensuring that the victims of terrorism are never forgotten.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many cases of (a) individuals and (b) family groups with a noted connection to West Ham constituency her Department is monitoring for inclusion within the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme.
The Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme is not yet open and remains under development.
As set out in the ‘Dear colleague’ letter to MP’s in September, the circumstances in Afghanistan are such that information regarding constituents’ friends and family members is not possible to obtain or may change very quickly. Regrettably, the Home Office is therefore unable to provide a response to correspondence relating to individuals still in Afghanistan.
Further information on the eligibility, prioritisation and referral of people for the ACRS is set out in the policy statement published on gov.uk on 13 September, available at www.gov.uk/government/publications/afghanistan-resettlement-and-immigration-policy-statement.

Adjournment debate on the effects of proposed changes to housing benefit in West Ham.
I am happy to agree with my hon. Friend. A customer has choice, but I am sad to say that the people of Newham will have very little choice. What options are open to those facing a shortfall in rent? What alternative accommodation and what options to renegotiate will they...

I am reluctant to interrupt my hon. Friend because she is making an extremely powerful case, but is she as nauseated as I am by the use of the word ““customer”” in that context? A ““customer”” is a person who makes a decision on alternatives in a market economy, so...

My basic tenet is that it is not possible to exist with the universal cap level and pay the rent of a London property, whether it is a two-bedroom flat over a fish and chip shop in Green street, or somewhere a little more palatial, perhaps further out. The taper...
