That this House acknowledges and celebrates the high-quality and person-centred social care provided by the team at Community Integrated Care, Griffin Lodge in Heald Green, Cheadle; celebrates and thanks the amazing staff who are a highly skilled workforce with multifaceted roles and the dedicated management team who all work so hard to support the people living there with a highly personalised and community-based approach; recognises that the team truly care about the work that they do and that the people supported at Griffin lodge live fulfilled, enriched and independent lives; further celebrates the top tier facilities including sensory rooms, great outdoor spaces, incredible design and decoration; and urgently calls for more drastic Government action to support social care in the long term such as fair pay and improved and streamlined funding.

That this House thanks Cheadle Civic Society for launching a year long celebration commemorating Agatha Christie’s connection to Cheadle in collaboration with Agatha Christie Limited that marks half a century since her death; acknowledges the story of the world’s most famous crime writer; celebrates that Christie often stayed at Abney Hall, home of her sister Margaret Watts who lived in Cheadle from 1902 to 1950; notes that Abney Hall is thought to have inspired the country house settings that featured in Christie’s novels so frequently; looks forward to the programme of free events that the Civic Society has planned including guided walking tours, a book club, talks, a themed ale named Who Dunnit at two Cheadle pubs, and creative writing and literature events at Cheadle Library; further thanks Christie’s grandson Mathew Prichard for unveiling a new information board outside Abney Hall; and takes this opportunity to celebrate the culture and history of Cheadle constituency.

As part of our plan for change, we are determined to improve the SEND system across the country so that every child has access to the best opportunities. We are committed to improving inclusivity and expertise in mainstream schools through the earlier identification of needs, as well as to ensuring that special schools cater to those with the most complex needs.

Paul and Ellie are children with special educational needs in a primary school in Bramhall. Their parents, like many across Cheadle, have reached out to me for help. Their SEND provision has been suddenly taken away. Paul and Ellie’s parents are now considering withdrawing them from mainstream schooling. Parentkind research shows that more than one in three parents of children with special educational needs say that their needs are not being sufficiently met. Paul and Ellie’s parents deserve much more certainty and clarity, so can the Minister confirm when they will bring forward the schools White Paper and, with it, the crucial information on the SEND reforms for anxious parents?

As per my answer to question 4, the changes that we made to national planning policy last year were intended to support the increased provision and modernisation of various types of public infrastructure. When it comes to ensuring that necessary infrastructure is funded and brought forward in Cheadle or any other part of the country, we look to local development plans and infrastructure funding statements to address needs and opportunities.

Residents in Cheadle have contacted me about the huge number of speculative development applications coming through, particularly in Cheadle Hulme and Woodford. We are now being told that a 10,000-home new town will potentially be situated on the constituency border. GPs are completely oversubscribed in Woodford, we have not had a Sunday rail service in over a year, and the bus services are completely inadequate. This has been raised time and again by my constituents. Will the Minister meet me and the leader of Stockport council to talk about this issue, and how the Government can get developers to start investing in infrastructure before they develop homes?
Residents in Cheadle have contacted me about the huge number of speculative development applications coming through, particularly in Cheadle Hulme and Woodford. We are now being told that a 10,000-home new town will potentially be situated on the constituency border. GPs are completely oversubscribed in Woodford, we have not had a Sunday rail service in over a year, and the bus services are completely inadequate. This has been raised time and again by my constituents. Will the Minister meet me and the leader of Stockport council to talk about this issue, and how the Government can get developers to start investing in infrastructure before they develop homes?
