In the most recent working week for which figures are available, 44% of staff assigned to the Darlington office attended the workplace. This equates to attendance by 74 staff from a total assigned workforce of 168 colleagues based in Darlington.

The Darlington Economic Campus is an integrated shared facility between several Government Departments. Currently, due to the available capacity, MHCLG staff are expected to attend the office for 40% of their time.

My hon. Friend is absolutely right to champion such a worthy cause. As the House will know, the Stockton and Darlington railway was the first public railway to use steam trains. I will ensure that he gets a meeting with the relevant Minister to make his case.
